That's because all the other routers have 10/100 WAN connections and the D-Link DIR-655 (I presume) is the only one of the bunch with a Gigabit WAN connection.

Why would there be a speed difference between a router with a 10/100 and 1Gb WAN port? Who here has an internet connection faster than 100Mbps? Whoever has one, I'm moving to your area. 🙂

Edit: I see what your saying. I didn't look closely at the chart. For some reason I assumed that was just the wireless throughput. That's a complete marketing chart as NO ONE I know exceed 100Mbps on there WAN connection. For all practical purposes, the WAN throughput of the 4300 and the 655 will be the same.

Oh I'm aware of Hong Kong's connection speeds. But I'm also aware of their highly censored internet. 100Mbps+ of censored internet? No thanks. 😉

Realistically, I am sure a lot of users connect through dsl/cable modems at speed less than 10mbs (I have 5mbps cable connection). How would a 266mbps wan to lan throughput help the general public?

I am most interested in accessing files through wireless connection at the maximum speed. Is predraft-N that much better than Super-G? (especially after factoring in the cost of wireless adaptors.) In fact I am thinking I should stick with my wireless-G for now (I managed to connect most of my pc's through a gigabit switch now so I don't have to wait forever through wireless connection).

I thought Hong Kong is pretty free. But I could be wrong. Any support for your claim would be of a lot of interest to me as I have some interest in finding a new career in Hong Kong but I would be stifled living in a highly censored society/
 
FWIW D-Link rebates are Sloooooooow!

They finally show up but they seem to take forever. My last one took about five months and I am currently waiting on another that I mailed in October.

I am still waiting for my rebate from D-link, Request sent last November.

At least there is still a chance. Gigafast, on the other hand, is refusing to honor my other rebate (not just my request, all requrests).

Could you please provide the link? Because #2 on the rebate says a receipt from dlinkshop.com. ALL of the requirement from 1 to 5 must be met to get the rebate.

Hey thanks. Picked up a DIR655 and xbox live worked like a charm wired up. I think I read that you can't do WPA2 wirelessly but otherwise it is fine. NAT reads "open."

The only reason you can't do WPA2 is if you're using the D-Link DGL-3420 for your XBox (it doesn't support WPA2). But, if you are using a wired connection for your XBox, there's no reason you can't set up something like a laptop to use wireless using WPA2.
