Does anybody know if you can chain the routers together? I've already got a router/print server I'm happy with, but would like a second print server for our second printer.

Yes, you can by using one of the 4 ports. Because it has auto-sensing, either straight or cross-over cable will work.

I think the rebate you can send in a photocopy of your receipt is the best buy rebate-so all of you that got ripped off on the gf4 screwup can get some $$ back and still return the item.

Why is it that worst buy never order's enough stock for the "minumum 10 per store"-they always seem to run out of stock by noon on sunday and OOS during the rest of the week of the sale and then like a miracle the following sunday there back in stock when there not on sale anymore?

I'll tell you its called bait and switch. Only a scum bag company would have a item on sale and not make sure they have enough in stock.

Does this router have the ability for it to provide DHCP services? And is the administration fairly easy? I'm looking for something for dad's office, so i want it to be as simple as possible.

Thanks by the way

Just got my $20 rebate back from BB. Now I am waiting for the $30 rebate. Great router, took less than 10 minutes to setup.

I have the DI-704 and its great! Mine has DHCP services! Everything on it is fairly easy! Was very quick to setup! Hardest thing was getting the Cat 5 wires to come where i have my router!

I bought this last time around and it's been up and running fine. Port forwarding is rather easy with it though dlink doesnt have a list of ports for different games on their website. But it works great, just waitin on that last $30 rebate...... dlink takes forever on their rebates......

I just placed an online order for store pickup, for $99 plus tax.

Will exchange it Sunday afternoon, after the crowds die down, and get the rebates.

Thanks!

I got this DI-704 last time when it had $30 and $20 rebates. Took 5 min. to set it up with 2 computers and cable modem. It works flawlessly. Port 113 is not stealth on default. Just set up a dummy virture server and let port 113 open to a non-existing IP address. Every port should be stealth now. BTW got my $30 and $20 checks already. A very good deal with a very good router. I Highly recommand.

When you say exchange it on Sunday, do you mean you are going in on sunday to pick it up and at the same time have the price adjusted?

Gonna pick it up tonight or tomorrow - before the crowds, and to make sure it is in stock. Will go back Sunday to re-purchase.

We are a family of computer idiots and we bought this Router last time around. It is wonderful! It took us a bit longer to figure out than most of the tech gurus here, but we still got it going and has run 3 computers just fine in our house. I would recommend it.

Boiler:
Rebates at Bestbuy requires the rebate form from Bestbuy which gets printed from their registers.

BestBuy.com D-Link rebate page

I ordered the DI-704P online, picked up at the store tonight - no rebate form at the register. Will use the rebate form found at the above link, which should have the new $20 on Sunday as well.

BTW: Best Buy's store pricematch policy is 110% of the difference. Does that include their own prices?

Better verify that your printer is compatible with this router here.

My Xerox XL2120 isn't on the list (which includes SOME Canon, Epson and most HP's), and won't work AT ALL. The too cherrie D-Link Tech Support person was WAY too happy for someone working graveyard, and kept apologizing.

Be careful about upgrading the firmware as well: I did it while still on the phone with tech support. It seemed to make the situation worse, and they don't have prior versions available :(

You people make this too confusing. Nobody has addressed the issue yet:

On the rebate form from Dlink, it clearly states that you CANNOT buy the router from BB

BB's web site - too confusing w/all their rebate mumbo-jumbo.

So, does anyone wanna get to the point here and say what the truth is:

Buy the router w/the Dlink rebate from BB and still get the rebate from Dlink or get screwed?

Sure, BB can offer their own rebate...but will Dlink honor it if you buy from BB?

Who's go the answer..the real answer this time....

You will NOT use the Dlink rebate from their site (obviously, you can't). Best Buy will have 2 rebates on it. In may be true that one of them does go to Dlink. You'll have to wait until tomorrow to see it. Just don't open your package!

Anyone willing to buy one of these and ship it to me. I don't have a bestbuy in the whole state. LMK ASAP. If at all possible, I'd like to work out a deal on this with someone. I'm willing to pay shipping and a $10 effort fee for your trouble. I'll send in the rebates so I'll need the rebate slips from the cash register and the UPC code left on the box. I figure the deal ought to work something like this:

$100-$20(Instant)-$20(BBMIR)-$30(MMIR)=$30

I'll pay the $80+tax out the door price plus $5-6 shipping plus $10 effort=$96+tax. I'll then mail in the rebates and recoup the difference.

LMK by PM if there are any takers out there.

Thanks guys/gals for the heads up and the hot deals!!!!!
