D-Link DI-514 not seen.. HELP!

I have been trying to set up a wLAN for a friend, and I cannot get this thing to work. He has an Intel PROset wLAN 2100 3A card on his laptop. I have set the router up the best I can, but the signal is not detected. The laptop IS detecting the neighbours linksys router intermittently, so thats obviously not the problem.

I have been tinkering with settings on the router for about an hour with no result. Any help would really be appreciated!

just noticed that the LED on the router for WLAN has not come on! Any ideas as to why? can somebody walk me through this or something?

Did you disable SSID broadcasting ?

Try connecting from the LAN port. Do you have cable or DSL ?

I am trying to configure it through the LAN port. In the Performance tab, SSID broadcast IS enabled.

just saw this on the DLink tech. supp. site:

WLAN - The light will be solid when it is ready to accept wireless traffic. The light will flicker when wireless traffic is present. If light is off completely, the router may be defective. Please contact tech support at 877-453-5465.

guess I will give them a tinkle

think the only way out is to RMA it

Have you correctly configured it for you connection?

I followed all the steps given... poked about a bit in the configs... nothing has turned that WLAN led on

BTW, it connects to the internet fine. I'm using it as a regular router as of now.
