I got this for $90 awhile ago with rebates. Worth every penny and more. Not one issue with it.

I thought good deals for any router should be in the range $10 - $30.

it does sound a little expensive but looking at the specs i figure the high cost is due to the gigE ports/switch

You get what you pay for. This thing is really fast, secure, and prioritzes certain udp/tcp packets via QOS.

i have QoS/Gamefuel on for a while now, its starting to suck for some reason, when I download 8-9 BT connections, QoS doesn't really help and my whole network would slow down (even streaming video over wireless across the living room) when i shut down the number of BT connections , its a little better, i have to reset my router a lot now to get the speed back. (and its not my WAN/cable modem)

i am on firmware 1.6, but hardware revision is the original one (got it when it came out). i am comparing with the QoS features on my WRT54G's DD-WRT firmware, and Linksys/DD-WRT is much better, I turn up my TCP connections from 512 to 2048 or 4096, and throttle down the TCP connection lifetime, and the thing flies regardless of how many BT connections I have. Is there an option to tweak the TCP connections on the DGL-4300? i think thats the only thing causing my network slowdown...

Double check your configuration and try using the automatic setting in place of the manual option.

Not bad! I also found the DGL-3420 gaming adapter if anyone is interested. It's only $40 at frys where it's almost $90 at amazon.com and other places. I ordered both this afternoon and they have already shipped.

So is the DGL-3220 only for xbox, or can it be used with a PS2 or speed up a any specific device? I'm guessing it speeds things up by giving priority to specific packets? if so, why not an specified device?

This router can now be had for $79.99 at Newegg. Mine is supposed to come today from frys. I doubt I'll return it to save $20 from a mail-in rebate, but damnit I hate it when I hear about products being cheaper after I buy them.

Damn, it looks like I missed out on the router for $80 and the gaming adapter for $40. Any other deals other than the $95 AR one?

Also can the gaming adapter be used as an access point and then I can connect it to a switch?

I did a setup like this for one of my friends kids using a Belkin wireless Ethernet adapter and a D-Link 8 Port switch and it works great and gives him enough ports and then some for all his game systems.

I received my 4300 and 3420 last week. Finally got a chance to set them up this weekend and they work great. Had a bit of trouble setting up the bridge, but a call to tech support cleared it up relatively quickly. Tech support was not from India (which is what I was expecting) but it was a bit like speaking to my 10 year old niece. "Go to like, files and like, click settings and stuff." First time I've dealt with a dingy female tech support rep. But either way the settings she gave me worked and now I'm a happy camper. I can now stream movies and everything else without stutters to my xbox 360 wirelessly.

I have to add my 2 cents... I bought this router a week ago, based on it's wired gigabit + wireless capability. I needed a modem that was faster on the wired side (between systems in my house) and I was also looking for better VPN connectivity over my Microsoft Wireless MN-700.

Wow... what a difference - no more drops on VPN, at all. Performance seems much better, and I no longer get disconnects from my cable internet (as would occasionally happen with the MS router). The configurability is the icing on the cake - I can schedule internet access for my sons' machines (older boy is cut off @ 11:30pm on school nights), monitor their access, and configure ports based on NAMED GAMES, instead of trying to figure out the ports for each... the router also picks up on machine names, making it easier to match those settings to a specific machine without having to run to a different room and look up an IP.

Big thumbs up for this router.

Man, I really want to get both the 4300 and the gaming adapter, but I think I'll hold off until Black Friday.
