I agree, the site was slow when I was using my computer through dial-up, but when I used one with broadband, it was much faster. I need this router soooo bad.
Super HOT deal, just pick one up this AM at SothCoast Plaza, they had about 5 left, but there where already three people in line ahead on me with one of these already. Good Luck.
<< I just went an picked up the last two my Best Buy had....Resell one on Ebay : ]] >>
Unfortunately they don't sell for as much as the Linksys or the Netgear items, so you have to do a careful analysis of the rebate hassle (potentially not getting it or fighting forever for it) nd the amount that you'll get on Ebay (around $60-$70). I was going to go buy half a dozen of them (for family members of course) but decided the hassle wasn't worth it. Of course, YMMV.
There was a deal like this at BB about two months ago. Also for $30 final price. I was worried that it would be sold out, Best Buy had at many in stock, so I doubt that they will dissapear quickly this time either. As for the router, it is just fantastic. Very simple and easy setup and it is very fast and 100 % reliable. If I didn't have one already, I would definetly pick one up.
Whew! Got last one, and only b/c I found it in overstock area. But they did have a few of the metal DI-704, which I don't think has the printer server function (DI-704P). And no conflicts in the two rebates! Schweeet!
Got my $30, $20, $10 checks from D-Link and BB but not $5 one for the Nov. deal. I had to go to BB to get $5. The CSRs at BB rebate are not at all helpful. They said ony one per customer. I told them they are diferent products but they are just not doing it. I think BB has to modify their ad and/or rebate form. I had a rebate for K-B DIMM from BB. The ad said 2 per customer but the rebate form said 1 per customer. I had to call K-B to verify. They told me it was BB's mistake and CSR made a note on their computer to process 2 even BB's form said 1. Well, I had D-Link's checks in 8 weeks as the form said. The router works great. It took me 5 minutes to connect and configure and everything works as it should be.
Went to the store because I couldn't get an order through on their site - saw an "open box" one for $79, so I took it to the front to ask if they would honor the instant $20 off, which they did.
So, I got the unit for $14.xx total counting tax AR.
There are two variants of this thing (I think). One is the 704 and the other is the 704P. I saw open boxes of both and I checked them out. Looks like the 704P is newer and simply adds network printer support. The webpage says the rebate is also for the 704P, but the rebate form itself just says 704.
Anybody know if:
1) They are the same unit. One is called a broadband/Internet Gateway and the other an Ethernet router. (I'm still on dial-up so I'm new to this junk. Still using a 10/100 switch at home for LAN)
2) They will honor the rebate on the 704P?
I ended up buying both and will return the 704 if they allow 704P.
Gonna go check the D-Link website when I get a chance...
To colossus:
If you search on BestBuy's web site with keyword "DI-704P", it will come up with four results. The first three are actually DI-704 while the last one is DI-704P. Both models are on sale at BestBuy. You will notice that each of them has its own rebate forms if you pay more attention to details. To the best of my knowledge, the major difference is the print server functionality, which is identified by a "P" suffix. Plus, DI-704P gets a sexy body.
I am unsure if I can grab one at Milpitas or Union City, CA B&M. It is so bad that I got this thread so late.

I recommend this unit way over the linksys because it is made of metal rather than blue plastic hence tougher, comes with a lifetime warranty (you have to register w/ in 90 days), and less expensive.
my unit shipped with firmware 2.56b6 so i think im gonna upgrade it.
