D-Link 802.11G Router (refurb) - $30.29+s/h @ CompGeeks

Warm I guess for no rebates, but it seems kind of weak when you consider that on BF at BB you could get the router and a pc card for $19 after MIR.

Tell that to anyone who has ever been burned for a rebate that didn't come, or that was denied on a technicality, and you might hear a different tune. Clearly there are several deals on ATHD for G gear for under $10 AR, but that assumes that you're okay with settling up sometime in March/April.

Assuming you get the money at all, of course. 😉

this wouldnt be so bad if the 524 actually worked. The reason its being sold as refurbished is because its one of the millions of returns because the firmware dosnt work.

Now THAT'S a valid gripe... 😀 What specifically doesn't work? I can't picture them shipping a completely non-functional doorstop... or did they?

524 works just fine here. This is a great router. I bought mine with the factory installed 1.05. I'm using WPA-PSK with a centrino based laptop with Intel Pro 2100 and WinXP SP2 on both ends. If you do get one with fw 1.03, there is a procedure to flash it to 1.05 the correct way. There are differences in the factory installed 1.05 and the 1.03 to 1.05 flash. You can find the info at dslreports.com under the D-link forums. I have used 2 prior D-Link routers, the 614+ and the 824VUP. The 524 has been the most stable, I love this router. And if you can read this it is because it is working beautifully over the wireless....

No offense, but this deal is cold. especially when you can get something like a Buffalotech wbr2-54g (not this week tho) for $12-20 after rebate and it will even do WPA-AES and blow this router out of the air.
I have a Dlink wifi router and it is utter JUNK (614+), and reco'd a dlink wired to someone and that didn't last 1 year.
Altho I have a bunch of Dlink Dss24+_ switches, most of their soho stuff is CRAP and @ this price, it ain't no bargin, especially for a refurb!
I would honestly saay it doesn't get much colder then this when you can get a half dozen or so better wifi routers NEW for haf the price.

Well, since seems to be (unfortunately) cold, are there any warmish deals (~$30-40) on 802.11g routers? How about pci g cards?

My girlfriend's D-Link "B" router doesn't send a good enough signal to get from 1st floor router to her 2nd floor room so I was thinking of picking up a new one for her.
