he obviously needs the money and you are a method of providing it. I would tell him that you can list it on ebay for him and you can split anything over $50 he gets for it as a listing fee.
 
Well... depends on how close you are to this friend. If it was one of my close friends, i would advise him to sell it on ebay or i would sell it for him and take maybe 10 bucks of it. if it is someone you barely know, just take his money

Just going to suggest the same. sell it and spilt the profit. either tell him in advance that you decided you don't really need it and are going to ebay it, or just do so and then offer him the money after the fact and tell him you sold it to 'some guy'. 🙂
 
If he is selling it to you cheap because he is your friend, and he thinks you need it, then yes, thats a problem. If he is trying to sell it to you because he is looking to get rid of it quickly, then no, there is no problem.
