You Deal Sharks are going to love this story.

I just got back from CC where I attempted to pricematch these CD-Rs to RR. This eventually brought out the Manager who was actually a very nice guy.

He gives me the song and dance on how they can't do the PM because it would bring the cost below $1.99. After reiterating that he would have to PM according to their policy and then I would have to MAIL-IN the two printed MIRs in order to get my money it's not that his store is paying me I am paying his store the PMed $19.99 price.

Then he said something like "Well I am not arguing with you but I am disagreeing with you and I might as well just give you the CD-Rs for FREE just so that you would be a happy Customer".

That's when I shook his hand and said something like "GREAT! Thank you very much and I will be sure to return to shop here at Circuit City!" I then grabbed my pack of CD-Rs, turned and left the store.

Sigh...makes me want to smoke a cigerette afterwards it was so good...

I wonder if I could have grabbed a couple more? :)

I pm'ed to rite-aid. I asked told him I didnt do rebates because I never get them. I asked if he would price match and not give me the rebate forms. He agreed. Then I just printed the forms from the website.

What do you put when the rebate form ask for a serial number? I just put N/A. Will that be ok?

just got a 100 pack from best buy for 25 bucks with an 18 buck rebate. Sure its like 3 bucks mroe expensive, but you get 100 instead of 50 and you'll handle only 1 rebate. For me, its the less, the better.

Almighty1, Of course they gave you the song and dance routine like the bait and switch routine. Hopefully you know that routine. Once

the cashier came from in the back and said no, ask to speak with the manager. Tell them that you are PM'ing the out the door price and

not the rebate price. Show them a copy of their PM policy if they still are stubborn about it say something like "your PM policy says

nothing against PM when a rebate is involved". Of course your mileage might vary (YMMV) no matter what evidence you give them. If

they still refuse, ask for the manager's full name, manager # if applicable, the store # and then the corporate # so that you can call and

complain. Good luck.

Location: Tustin Circuit City

My tricks:
- I paid in the cashier at the computer section (in the middle of the store)
- I walked out, and then drive over to RiteAid like 2 mins away. Got the paper version of the Ads.
- I drove back to counter. With the circuit city **RECEIPT ONLY**, the Rite Aid ads, and the printout of their price match policy
(they actually have the price match policy as a big banner behind the counter of the return services)
- I show them the Rite Aid ads, and tell them it's the same item on the receipt. (on the receipt it will only say computer media)
- The counter-person look it up from computer, saw $24.99, and price matched me.
- No question asked. No manager involved. I got $15.40 credited back to my card!! Woo hoo!!
- After those rebate, I got the CD for free + make some $

Not to mention, the price match is a 115% guarantee. So I got 115% back of the $24.99-12=12.99 *115%

And to top that, I got 3 stacks! One for me home, one for office, one for my gf apt.
Who can beat my deal now? =P

BTW, I forgot to mention. Circuit City can print out multiple copies of your receipt. I don't even other to copy them for rebate. I just ask them to print 2 extra copies. If the rebate complain about the quality of the "receipt"... god forbid, I am going to bite them =P

Also, the price match policy said "our sale price". Not "price after rebate". If you look at the circuit city ads carefully (I looked at the physical paper copy), you will find some good help.

1- on the section of the CD, it clearly labelled "price after rebate", which is different from "sale price", right?
2- on the Rite Aid ads, it's in *RED* text saying "sale price" of $12

So as a non-English native speaker (I'm chinese!)... I think I can still debate with them in English. Or even bring along a dictionary =P
hahaha

Hope this help. Get the deal before it's over!! =)

I guess I'm new at the Price Match in person routine. I already used the out the door price and not the rebate price on them but that didn't work. I guess using their own policy against them is a good idea too. I guess I'll give this another try in a few days.

Almighty1, I am new at the PM game as well. But, if you give them proof against what they are telling you then you will have a

chance. Since you will be making some money on the deal they won't make it easy for you. Even still under certain circumstances they will

stubborn (pri*cks) so YMMV. You might want to try the method used by woofwoof.

woofwoof, great job that is really sweet plus you got the 115% guarantee. I thought it is 110% price guarantee. I was going to

do part as well if they had given me a hard time.

Just an additional note, try to use your observation skill.

I think, very seldom that a store manager is there at the counter doing return/price match. And most of the cases, the person over the counter can't remember the circuit city weekly ads in their head. As I mentioned, just bring the Rite Aid ads, without Circuit City ads. Cause once you bring the Circuit City ads into the "negotiation", I believe things will get messy.

So when I went to do the price match, I found the most-newbie-looking person over the counter, and went to her directly. Point at the Rite Aid ads. Gave her the receipt and bing-bing I'm done. Because on the receipt it only say "computer media", the whole PM thing is much easier. Because now they have to look up the product/item# on their little terminal, and all they see is the price $24.99 on the terminal (without knowing the $23 rebate!). Make sense?

Cause I don't think people over the counter care much about giving you the price match or not, but the store manager does. I have read so many response on this thread, that seem once manager is there your chance of getting PM is very low. So don't let yourself get there ;-)

I LOVE THIS FORUM!

Printed out EVERYTHING --
CC price
RA price
CC guarantee
CC customer satisfaction
RA location in Seattle

went into CC, picked up a pack, marched straight to the counter and said ok i want to PM this to this RA price
he called his manager and i heard him say 'yeah, that is a good price'
wish i knew about the 115% thing too
but $12 out of pocket and $23 to come is not bad for a 50 pk

oh and mine are 16x not 12x like someone said above :)

Love you guys

Torro, I hear you. Ditto.

I never know what's the **TRUE** power of the Internet. This kind of forum is what truly amplified the meaning of "Information age" ;-). MANY THANKS!!

I am now on the journy of spreading out the word, telling all my friends what I have done. And they all go O_O.... hahahaha. My next step is just to wait for my Starwood AE card to arrive to do some serious PriceMatch damage. I am now on my next task to seach for best way to buy my Sony DSC-F707. Any help? =P

BTW, my officially on the plastic wrapping it says x16 speed. But somehow, either Fuji or whoever did, put a sticker of saying "up to 40x write speed" on top of the original pink "1xx up to 24x write speed" logan.

p.s. excuse my mis-use of term, if any. once again i'm Chinese =P... hahahaha

:D

Well there are no rite aids within the state of fla, so I who started this thread was stuck with the radio shack pm. even at that the local cc fought tooth and nail. after going round and round with the dept mgr for about 5 minutes i then 1. asked for the mgr, and 2. suggested he imput my phone # into their system to see what i have purchased there over the years. Dept mgr took about 10 steps, turned around, told the salesman to ring in up. Thought of asking for two, but didnt want to see someone stroke out.

True but can't you pull a bait and switch on them as well if you wanted to. All you have to do is buy the CDR for $12.99 from RiteAid and then the CDR for $24.99 from CC. Then photocopy the receipt for CC and then return the CDR's back to CC for a refund... This way, atleast you paid $12.99 and then use the CC rebates and the photocopied receipt and the UPC code from the CDR purchased from RiteAid :) Okay, you don't get the extra 10% but atleast you make $23. =)

this is my experience with them...if anyone cared

i took two packs to the cs desk, showed them my rite aid reciept from the day before @ riteaid, told the cs rep i wanted to pm the fuji cdr to the riteaid, she said ok, took and minute and looked it up online for the special since i didnt have the riteaid ad on me. when she got back and rung them up, she must gave the 115% pricematch even without me knowing, so it came out to about 10.70 per pack out the door, but when i inquired about the rebate, she said i might not get it with the pricematch, does anyone know if this will hold true?

ew915:
as someone's previous messsage on this thread said, that should not be any problem. Basically she's just scaring you off.

Almighty1:
I don't think that will work, or will it? Once you return to RiteAid, the "transaction #" or record will be gone in their system. I thought that won't work?! Or I just over estimate the intelligent of the rebate company =P

It should work since I know someone who bought something from Egghead when the stores still existed before they required the actual UPC code. All he did was photocopied the box and returned it and still got his rebate for the Iomega Zip100 drive. Actually, I was talking about buying it at RiteAid and also at CircuitCity but make a copy of the CC receipt and then return it to CC so you get the $24.99+tax back and then just use the one you bought from riteaid with the UPC code and then the CC receipt and all should be well. Remember it's handled by a third party rebate company and not by CC themselves so they don't really go looking at the CC system as that would be violating trade secrets. It's going to be more of a hassle and you do only get exactly $11.00 back instead of that extra 15%.

Ok, just got back from CircuitCity at Crossroads in Bellevue. I armed myself with Rite Aid flyer and CC flyer. Went in to get to get Madden2003 for xbox ($49.99 w/free $10 gift card), Logitech Winman RumblePad ($19.99) and Fuji CDRs. Picked up Madden, all out of the rumble pack and a few CDRs left. I went to pay and ask for PM to Rite Aid as seen in this add here. He said blah blah blah, there price is cheaper then Rite Aids after rebates. Ok, how about just give just PM the CDRs for $12 and keep the rebates. He says, "We can do that", so off to the CS counter we go. So after PM, some how he came up with a price of $10.70 (I thought it was 110%, which would bring it to $10.90) and threw away my rebates. That's no problem, because they are available on Fuji's Rebate Site and CC's Rebate Site.

Good luck!

I did a deal like this so many months ago....against compusa I think...for around +5 dollars...
That one I did through the csr and did a pm....but they seemed to make me feel guilty because of the rebates...

So this time I just bought the cdr's, full prices....went and got the ad from a local RiteAid and went to the return desk. Much easier...didn't hardly have to say a word, and no manager had to come over!

Paid $11.34 out the door...and I still have the $13 and $10 rebates coming to me!!

I'm a happy camper! :D

I just got back from CC. I picked up the CDRs in computers and took them to a salesman in home audio. When I showed him the RA ad, he showed me their ad and asked me if I knew about the two MIRs. I told him that I never MIRs because they take too long. He went to ask the manager about PMing the RA ad. He came back and rang me up with no problems at all. After the 110% price match and sales tax, I got out the door for $11.66 with both MIRs to go.

Now let's just see if the rebates ever actually get here...............
