Man... you're supposed to have people check on them a couple of times a day when you're on vacation!

Oh... wait... I'm thinking pets! ;)

Do I have to download/install client on each machine I want to run D2OL? Does each get different node id? And I then go to site and add nodes to my account?

BCinSC - Yes, each machine needs a client running on it. By default, a different node id is created for each new client. You can get around that by aborting the installation when asked for your email address and copying the node.prp file from another machine, however the Sengent folks discourage this practice. It also creates misleading results in the node statistics. After all that is done, you head over to the site, login, and click 'Add Nodes' I think, and they should be there! :)

Are there ways to optimize client? I've got systems ranging from classic Pentium to P4HT and a Barton due any minute. F@H uses SSE and 3DNow - does D2OL?

What's the difference between D2OL and TSC? Are they linked in anyway? Does anyone track TSC like you track D2OL?

D2OL benefits from hyperthreading. I've been told that the Linux client is faster than the Win client, but I haven't seen that benefit personally. You will want to go into the preferences once it's fired up and uncheck the boxes to enable animations and start the gui at startup, and increase the cache to the maximum 2000 candidates from 50. Once loaded up, your client will attempt to communicate 4 times ber day at 6 hr intervals, unless you want the client to crunch offline for a while... good for sneak attack dumps! :) This client loves AMD chips, btw :)

TSC and D2OL use the same engine, just crunch different diseases. I did the TSC stats for a while when I switched over, but couldn't handle both of them, so I just did the stats for the project I was running. I believe there are more members worldwide on TSC than D2OL, but I don't think that TA has much representation over there... but I could be wrong...

Chessaroo is the only one I know of still running TSC.
There are many team which have put a lot of power into the project but Anandtech isn't of of them at this time. The Rebel Alliance ran it for a while until the problems they was having at that time cause us as well as most of the team to switch to other projects. They seem to have the problems fixed now but there is little interest in the project here now.
Thanks for the stats Geoff

I think it had a lot to do with the 2 million candidate lead the Russians had by the time we got it going. It was just too much to overcome and have all the problems we had early on.

Yeah... there are the occaisional quirks in the stats... I calculate the daily differences by subtracting the participant's overall total for the previous day from the current day. I get the ranking from the daily stats file that Sengent provides. Because my stats don't roll right at midnight like Sengent does, there are sometimes fluctations like this :)
