UPDATE : Jan 02

The mission has been completed! The cows have been tipped! TA is #1 in D2OL! All of you who answered my call to arms from other projects, send me a PM with what horsepower you lent to this project for how long, and I will start repaying those debts, then move a couple of machines over to TART. Great job TeAm! :)

Give us your horses for just one day, and we'll give you sizzling Cow on a platter!

We're a bit behind schedule for a New Year's Eve cookout, but a huge puch might put us over the edge! Help is still wanted in the event that the Cows have a cand or two up their sleeves! :)

As in a DPC cow tipping! :)

TeAm D2OL is on pace to pass the Cows in less than 3 days and claim #1 worldwide in the project. My goal is to have TeAm D2OL pass them before the New Year. Here's my offer:

Anyone who agrees to join the team temporarily to help pass the Cows will get an equal quantity of CPU power to the project of their choice in their name from my farm after we pass the Cows.

Interested? Let's work out the details! :) If we make it I'm going to brave the cold Vermont New Year's eve and cook up some steak! :)

[Edit] The client can be found here The client is kinda heavy and will run in 128Mb ram, but 256Mb is probably optimal from my experience. Join the team and add your nodes to your profile by going to your personal page here. I would also suggest expanding the cache size to 100 candidates as the server has been known to have the occaisional interruption ;)

Me too GeoffS, would be nice to do something different on a couple of machines over Christmas.

No need to return the favour (I already have a D2OL account)

1. Are the servers and stats working reliably yet?
2. Does the current version still demand gobs of memory?

Ken- Stats are up and down... the numbers look almost right at the moment... Ken at Sengent is looking into discrepancies. I'm finding that the client needs 256Mb to run effectively. I'll add that to my top post.

Everything is initializing. Is there a team # or anything? How do I have it join TA?

Night, you go to the teams tab on the D2OL webpage, look up Team Anandtech, and you join there.

kadajawi - 256 total is fine in my experience. My desktop at work is loaded with stuff running at any given time and seems to be fine.

256 total, the client can use between 80 and 120, but in reality it will use as much as is available if you have 128 or less. I successfully run it on a work machine with 64 meg of ram, but only at night when the machine is not in use.

Using about 96MB here on my machine. I have a gig at home so it shouldn't be a problem when I install it on there later tonight when I get home.

My member name on our team is TA_Night201

I'm using 400MB RAM/Hard Drive cache on my machine here at work. I only have 256MB RAM on here. I think it's time to order another 256.

Under a good workload I can hit 1.6gigs of peak memory! I only have 512 and I can tell when I have hit my limit. :p

Thanks for all the help people! We will make the goal I am sure of it.. :)

If you run linux boxes and D2OL is the only thing running 128MB ram will do just fine.
