Cyrix 4, eh?

Would any one consider buying it? Or even read a review of it? 1.2Ghz and Cyrix's traditionally low prices..Hmm..sounds good.

if it hits off, it could add competition, i doubt it will go far, knowing cyrix's history, but u never know, remember the ATHLON!!!

don't forget, VIA OWNS Cyrix -- so its not going to be really driven out of business unless it REALLY sucks

it will be interesting to see 🙂

i predict it to be almost non-exsistant in the US, but ver popular in asia and russia.

unless cyrix has fixed all those compatiblity problems i got used to hearing about i'm not even going to consider it.

Those babies cooked stuff at 200 MHz, at 1.2 GHz you'll probably need an even bigger heatsink than the Tbird

For some reason I doubt VIA will breed incompatabilities within its own products (CPU/chipsets). Its performance remains to be seen. If it sucks, I wont buy one, if it is able to compete, then price/performance comes into the equation, and if that is better than AMD/Intel, I will buy it instead.

What happened to the other two chips that Cyrix has worked on in the last year?

I am starting to think that they are like ALi "They're good at powerpoint" - Via Spokesman.

If Cyrix can deliver the Vaporware, then their 1.2ghz actual speed would be some where around 800mhz with an FPU speed of a Pentium 200mmx. If they some how can muster it up by the end of next year it wouldn't be fit to be in a Palm Pilot.
