wahooo!!!
Welcome to Cyberwings!

We apologize for the delay in getting your account setup. We have had a rash of SPAMMING incidents lately as well as having been very busy working on our expansion into the new data center in Portland, Maine. We will be extending your hosting plan from 12 months to 14 months from original date of order to give you a bit of time compensation for this delay. Again, thanks for choosing Cyberwings and we apologize for the delay. It's not normal for us to have such a long delay in account creations, honest! 🙂

Your Domain Name is: XXXXXX

PLESK LOGIN Page: Your SiteAdmin Page is https://XXXXXXXXXX/

PLESK Username: XXXXXXXX

PLESK Password: XXXXXXXXXX

FTP LOGIN NAME: XXXXXXXXXX
FTP PASSWORD: XXXXXXXXXXXX

For uploading files to your site before your DNS propagates, please use:

FTP IP ADDRESS: XXXXXXXXX

Please be sure to change your Primary & Secondary DNS Servers to:

Primary: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Secondary: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Please note, if your domain is registered with NETWORK SOLUTIONS (www.netsol.com) you may have trouble assigning these nameservers (especially ns7) for at least 1 week. We have asked NETWORK SOLUTIONS to mirror our nameservers in their database but they are a VERY difficult company to deal with, so we're not sure how quickly they will get to it. If your domain is NOT registered with Network Solutions (Congratulations!), you should be fine. Please be SURE that your PRIMARY nameserver IS ns7.ournameserver.com and your SECONDARY nameserver is listed as ns1.ournameserver.com - in that order! THIS SERVER IS BRAND NEW. We have burnt it in for 96 hours now, however, the DNS servers are not fully registered yet - you may not be able to change your primary/secondary DNS servers for 2-3 days, just FYI.

YOUR SITE IS ON ONE OF OUR NEW SERVERS WITH PLESK 2.5 RUNNING! In the older version of PLESK 2.0 that we still have running on SOME servers, users could not use FrontPage 2002 or email programs like Eudora or Pegasus. These features have been added in PLESK 2.5 so you should be able to use these features. Please ignore the items below that say we do not support anything other than OUTLOOK and that we do not support FrontPage 2002 yet. We do on this server. We will be upgrading all other PLESK 2.0 servers to 2.5 next week.

Using your PLESK Control Panel, you will be able to add users, databases, change your hosting type,

add/remove password protected directories, and more!

Please note, you will NOT be able to access your server until you change your primary and secondary DNS servers with your registrar. Please contact the people you REGISTERED your domain with and ask them to change your primary/secondary DNS servers to the ones listed above. And yes, Cyberwings does own "ournameserver.com" and we reallyk do mean to put your nameservers as those listed above 🙂

FTP Server: Your FTP server is ftp.yourdomain.com (put in your domain name here)

POP Server: Your POP Server is yourdomain.com (put in your domain name here)

SMTP Server: Your SMTP Server is yourdomain.com (put in your domain name here)

WEB-BASED E-MAIL:

All of our hosting accounts come with FREE Web-Based E-Mail. Any user that exists in your site
admin area will have access to Web Mail. To access your webmail, once your domain is active, please
go to http://webmail.yourdomain.com - please substitute your domain in this address!

OTHER E-MAIL NOTE:

Cyberwings only runs SECURE SMTP SERVERS - currently, the only mail client that you can use with our hosting services
is either your Web Based Mail Client or Outlook Express/98/2000. Programs such as Eudora & Pegasus Mail do not
currently work with our hosting due to the authentication methods used by those programs. Our services will support
these programs within 1-2 months when PLESK 2.5 is released and upgraded on all of our servers which will implement
Eudora & Pegasus Mail Support. Currently with Outlook Express you need to have SMTP AUTHORIZATION turned on

for OUTGOING MAIL.

BANDWIDTH NOTES:

You are able to monitor the bandwidth usage of your account by logging into your PLESK Control
Panel (information above), and click on the "REPORT" button - you will get a general summary of your
domain usages there. If you click on the "WEBALIZER" button, you will receive a more detailed report
of what is generating your site's traffic. Please note, Webalizer reports are generated daily at 4am,
so you will not have a report to view for at least one day after your site has completely switched
to our servers after you have done your DNS changes.

Our standard hosting plans come with 6GB or 8GB of traffic per month. If you need more than this, the cost is
$1.50 per GB per month. Or you can upgrade your plan to a higher plan. Contact us for more information.

FTP NOTES:

All sites have basic FTP access to their domains. When you first log into your FTP server, you will see
the directories listed below.

/cgi-bin/: This cgi-bin directory that exists in /cgi-bin/ (the same directory where you'll see httpdocs and httpsdocs). In this /cgi-bin/ you can only run scripts (cgi, pl and php files) - you cannot store other types of files in this /cgi-bin/ directory. We recommend that if you have a cgi, perl or php program that needs to run with other files in the same directory, like gif's, jpg's, etc, that you create a separate directory under your /httpdocs/ directory and run it from there. You can run .cgi's, .pl's., .php's, etc. all from within any structure under your /httpdocs/ directory. Let's say you created a directory under your /httpdocs/ directory called /cgi/, the web path to this would be http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi/ - Please ask us if you have any questions.

Your full path to your httpdocs directory is:
/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/domain.com

httpdocs - Your main domain web page goes here. By default you will see a basic index.html file as a place holder page.
logs - Access logs for your site will go here.
web_users - Any WEB USERS you create for your domain will appear under this directory.

FRONTPAGE NOTES:
If you have selected FrontPage access for your account, your LOGIN NAME for FrontPage is webmaster and your password is the one that you requested for your Admin Account. If you have NOT selected FrontPage access, you can disregard this section.
PLEASE NOTE - WE DO NOT SUPPORT FRONTPAGE 2002 AS OF YET. ONLY 98 AND 2000.

WEB-BASED TROUBLE TICKET SUPPORT SYSTEM & FORUMS:
Please submit all of your support related questions through our Web Support System at:
http://www.cyberwings.com/websupport/

Please be sure to register for and use our forums as well for assistance:
http://forums.cyberwings.com

ALSO, one last important note... Cyberwings does weekly backups of your data to an offsite FTP server,
however, this does not guarantee the safety of your data. We strongly encourage all of our customers
to do their own backups on their home computers or another server to ensure they have ready access to
to their data in the event we should have a hardware failure. Though we do not expect anything like
this to occur, we want you to be prepared in the event that it does. Please backup.

I gave in a signed up yesterday. I'm really looking forward to it. $3.90 for a year. Can't beat that with a stick!

The company I had registered my domain with was charging me $25/year for email forwarding until this year. They wanted to charge me $210!!😕

Buh-bye!

Glad to hear Shawn & CW are making up to everyone for the delays. He's a real stand-up guy. 🙂

Oh, and LOL @ the guy who just paid for 12 years of service!!!! 😀 😀

Depends on your useage but FTP would be the first and only choice.

<< What's a better hosting option...Frontpage or FTP (since they don't allow both)? >>

<< When they say Frontpage, do they mean the feature in it that publishes it? >>

That's what I'm beginning to think. If so, I'll have to change my first domain name. I selected FTP for the other two.

definitely choose FTP!

if you choose Frontpage you are locked out of normal FTP usage. If you choose FTP, you can still use Frontpage to create your site, but you just have to manually upload files. (And hopefully you're not using Frontpage anyway.)

The only thing I have seen people complain about cyberwings for is the registration process. They take almost a week to do it. Shawn with cyberwings knows this and they are looking into changing it. Just be alittle patient. I have been waiting since Friday, but I am not in any way worried. I sent in a support ticket and I got a reply in about 10minutes. How can you beat that? I have seen many others with the same support experience. Anyways I just sent in a ticket to get info on when my account would be complete. The guy was very nice and asked me to be patient because they have all of their resources at work and have been swamped with orders because of the 50% off deal.

Oh Sh!t!!!!! /me sends email to get refund or switch to another hosting plan 😛

I could have sworn that the thread for this on FW said that it was monthly.......

Oh well, at least I'm set for the next 12 years if not 😛!

Well, for less than $14 for a domain name and hosting for a year, what the hey. 😀

I gave it a try - hopefully I can at least use it for some upcoming ebay auction pix, and I got a domain name that I wanted anyway.

The chat on the webhosting forum seems mostly positive. It's worth a shot - good find. 😎

Thanks for posting this. This came just in time and with the right price.... if you can call 3.90$ even a price.
Since my current hosting service is not able to fix plusmail redirects in a week it is time to ditch em and move on. Lord knows it can't get worse!

Thanks
Karsten

If you choose FTP and not Frontpage can you still use Frontpage extensions?

Well, one week after I placed my first order with them, I got the confirmation email! Woo hoo!

All I have to do now is contact my registrar and have them update the DNS listings.

I'm not sure with the current iteration of FP Extensions but when FP first came out i was in a situation where a client *insisted* using FP extensions for counters because it looked cool (remember those big psychedelic looking built-in counters for FP?).

Anyway, i didn't have FP to start with but i managed to manually enter FP code into the HTML file and uploaded it to the server via FTP... seems to work just fine.

This is THE HOT DEAL of the year. I signed up, the price is unreal. I don't think they will be profitable at this rate and they probably won't last...but it's on $4 I'm out, LOL. If it works out, I can move my site to here and save $50/year.

They could easily be profitable actually. Even at $3.90/year if they put 500 sites (which isn't uncommmon in the day and age of almost 1000 sites in one box) on a single server (Which i still believe is the same $99 one Rackshack provides) that would amount to $63.5 profit for that single server/mo. Not much but it sure is a good way to gain a chunk of the market.

edit: changed profit for each server from /yr to /mo. thanks to nekote for giving me the heads up! 🙂

Can someone help me out? I applied for a .com through their domain service, then went straight to the hosting and signed up for Plan 5. I received my welcome yesterday, and on the day that I signed up, I received an e-mail confirming the .com and confirming my hosting order.

My problem is - the .com doesn't work! The https://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx link at the beginning of the e-mail works fine, and I can login, change settings, etc., but I can't change any of the DNS settings - I suppose that's normal...

Who should I bug about my .com domain not working? Is it something I am supposed to do myself? The DNS listing clearly lists everything fine, and I'm assuming the primary and sec servers are always xxx.ournameserver.com

Newbie at this - would appreciate some help and I don't want to bug the help desk with something this simplistic...

Just signed up. $3.90 = good deal. They have a live chat page where they can answer your questions. Might as well host, i'm paying godaddy to park my domain.
