So now, according to the new release, I have to rebuild my site from the ground up. Nice work. Nice work...

thats why i always keep a backup of my site on my own computer. so that if anything liket his happens to me.. i wont be that far gone.

That's the best way to go. I do all my editing on the computer, and incrementally upload it to the host. Each revision I backup the folder. I then keep a copy backed up on zipdisk. Then about every 6 months I back everything to CD-R.

Never do your editing directly on the server.

I have my entire site (except for database) on my HD. But that's not the point. What professional company would tell you "whoops, all your sh*t is gone. Sorry, deal with it."

I actually took the time to read through the whole thing, and it looks like the reason everyone will need to re-create the site on the new servers is because the old DC won't allow them access to their old servers. No access to servers and no connection = kinda tough to move the data from old servers to new servers in their new location.

Just my take on the whole thing.

Just my personal observation. He said he had '30' servers. These are probably 1U racks that start at about 2 grand each.

How the hell can you finance over 60 grand in capital investment (not even looking at network hardware or bandwidth charges) with the rates he is charging. He is blowing sh!t out of his ass, I can tell, from one server administrator to another....if you could even call him that.

The extent of the lies I'm feeling indicate that this is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!

I just read this thread... I had never heard of Cyberwings before. But as I was reading it I searched for other Cyberwings posts... like when it started back in June. And as I was reading it, it's spells out SCAM so damn easily. I simply can't believe how pumped people got and it was just more and more BS from the CEO haha. And the few people that questioned the whole thing back then were just flamed for it. How gullible so so many people are! Hilarious!

edit: In fact, I thought people were trying to play an um summer fool's joke. I was speechless reading those hundreds of posts. And press release, sounds hilarious! I mean listen to him describe the new servers and stuff. Or just make up some pathetic excuse. Woohoo!

My comment to anyone who's said they paid $3.95 for a year, and got their moneys worth already, is wow, that's one quick year.

Man I've been watching the cyberwings things, that really sucks, but at least no one is out massive dollars.

Btw if you want to drop a couple dollars a month ($5 or more) for a real host check out www.pair.com I 've been with them for years and they're the best)

It's $3.95, who cares, it cost more to purchase two 12 packs of soda

Times how many hundreds or thousands got duped? that is alot of money.

besides it is the principal getting ripped off still stings.

They have a secondary server location in texas, I believe. These servers have been unaffected - hence youre still up and running.

I am so ashamed that I pumped in $20 hoping to get an unbelievable amount of stuff. Im a retard. I do realize it aint much, but Id prefer not to burn $20.

Also - someone said "no one lost much", thats not true man, there are a few people in the chat room daily who have spent hundreds on reseller accounts - and gotten 10 days of nothing.

what DC wouldnt let you have your data back, thats the question. Answer: none. He is lying through his teeth.
