Anyone have any experience with these guys? I'm in the market for a new computer (my alienware of 3 years is dying fast), and although I'd like to wait for PCI-X, Socket 939 etc, I'm not sure this box is going to make it. I've looked over several custom rig sites, and it seems like Cyberpower has the best price / parts ratio, but wanted to get people's quick thoughts.

whats your budget? what do you use your PC for?
 
I have built my own in the past, but my current job pretty much precludes building my own this time (not a ton of free time to wrestle with things, and I'd rather use the free time on games). As far as usage, I use my current computer for work, downloads, blogging, email etc, but with an emphasis on games. I do work from home sometimes, but that's not really the gating item. Budget wise, I'm not really contrained by price, but it's not like I want to fork over $4K just because I can. I was thinking of something in the 3400, FX51, or FX53 range with a 9800XT. I have Klipsch 4.1 speakers and a Viewsonic 220fb (but am considering an LCD if one can hold up to an fps like JK3 or HL2 ok), so it's really just a new box I'm after.
 
lol @ mrgoblin. Anyway I'd say build your own again. Just call in sick or some other crap. Or if you insist on Buying your own I'd say Falcon NW

Do you have a link to mechbons guide? I am also looking to buy a new PC in the near future (socket 939 and the new video cards are things holding me back now). I built a computer with a friend of mine about eight years ago. Since that time I have only done some minor upgrades here and there (install DVD, new hard drive, ram, sound card). I am a bit worried that since it has been so long I might hose things? They have a PC Club store here in Colorado Springs... they may help me build my own?

To get around the hastle of building my own I was looking at Alienware and ABS Computers? Anyone have any feedback for these two companies (preferably if you have bought from them before).

hey, well like others, i say build your own; if you need assistance search the forums or start a thread (why not both). im sure there are a lot of people out here that will be more than willing to help answer any questions/ problems you run into (like myself). How come your current pc is dying? hardware crapping out on you? if not, then take care of it software and hardware wise (clean the hardware and doctor your software) = it should last a while until you're ready to buy a 939.
 
I've ordered several rigs from Cyberpower and have had good service. I don't know how they could have "poor" quality as you select what components are used. They don't manufacture the parts, only install/build. If you chose crappy components who's fault is that?

I got my father a system from them in Nov. After a couple months his modem went out (one I installed, not Cyberpower). Although he admitted a phone line problem (unshielded buried cable - don't ask too long to go into) he told Cyberpower the mobo was bad and they replaced it and had onsite service techs do it at no cost under their standard warrantry service . I'm not sure it was the mobo, if it was it was Abit's fault anyway. I don't see how their servcie could be any better?
 
In the last year, myself and 5 of my friends have purchased PCs from Cyberpower. None of us have had any problems so far. I'd much rather build a PC myself, but I didn't have the time to spend this go around and I found CP's prices to be excellent for the hardware I wanted.

One interesting note about their website: You can get different final prices on the exact same system by using different starting systems and changing them to the setup you want. It's fairly strange, but figure out exactly what you want for components and then build the same rig using a bunch of different base systems and then order the one that ends up with the lowest price. The last friend I had who bought his PC from them about 2 weeks ago knocked about $200 off his final price by playing around with different base systems.

A couple quick questions.....

Have you ever bought from them?
Is this because of the price / performance? (I think their prices are pretty low, don't know about service / extras)
I have heard they own newegg.com, is this true? (maybe this is why their prices are so low?)
Is there a reason (if they do own newegg) why they don't have some parts (like FX-53) on their systems? I don't know if maybe this is because they haven't updated their web site or if they just wait for the premium price to come down?
