Koutech

I was using a Highpoint 1640 card, but anytime there was a lot of usage on the 3 drives I had connected it would drop the drives. Turns out they have a habit of doing so, which I only found out through several emails with their tech, and a lot of searching online. This one is much better, and supports SATA 3.0 rather than just 1.5.

I used to order from them online then go down to their place and pick it up.

Would you mind going down and getting another card for me then? I'll call and saying you're picking it up, then you can ship it to me yourself. I'll cross-ship you a 6-pack of local beer if you do? :D
Not going to work. Your card isn't in Rancho Cambodia. It's in Australia.
:D

Okay, fine. A 12-pack of beer. Sheesh.

Well it's been two business days, without a response to my email, and no update as to the tracking info of my package. Tomorrow I'll try calling them, and if no result then it's ccard chargeback time and off I go to a different retailer, because when they were looking for my billing information they were plenty quick to respond to emails, but now that there's a problem they don't bother responding at all.

Oh well, it was the first time ordering from them, so it was 50/50 anyways.

Well I got an email today, only took them 3 1/2 days, but they apologized for the package going to the wrong country, and apparantly automatically created a new shipment. So I didn't get the option to cancel and get a refund, and now I have to wait the 3-4 days for processing, again, and then wait for it to be shipped to me, again.

Simple. A Canadian customs official saw an incoming RAID and sent it out as far as possible.

How much was it?

If it's just a simple RAID card why not just go buy it from newegg or better yet, Fry's (or a similar store).

You must've missed the part where I live in Canada. No Newegg :(, and no store like Fry's up here. I did get a card from NCIX, which is semi-local, and it was horrible. Not their fault, but they really don't carry a good selection of these types of cards. I don't want to spend a few hundred dollars on the thing, but at the same time I want it to actually work. Just because I"m moving around a few GB worth of data is no excuse for the card to simply give up and "lose" the drives as this one was doing (and as most of the Highpoints seem to have a problem with).

This new one is only about $65 +s/h, NCIX just doesn't carry it otherwise I'd have gone to them.

I've used NCIX in the past, and they are ok. The last couple of orders I placed through DirectDial.com and the service was really fast. The items I purchased were also cheaper through them than through NCIX.

They have a warehouse in the Lower Mainland, so their shipping to the Island is usually very quick.

Well, the package that ended up in Australia made it back here, and actually beat the package that they re-sent me. That one isn't even showing up in the USPS system yet. I got it today, and there's a big sticker on it that says "Missent to Melbourne Australia", even though my address is clearly marked at least 3 places on the outside, and the PO stamped it to Canada. Now I have to deal with sending the other one back, if I ever get it.
