I just finished flashing from 5.0.8 and I'm giving it a whirl now :)

Looks like it's time to update my phone. I haven't been happy with 5.0.8, too many force closes on basic things.

FYI I was getting the same when I went from 5.0.7 -> 5.0.8. I wiped the phone using the recovery console and 5.0.8 began working flawlessly for me (I have a G1 FWIW)

maybe he doesn't want to work for them?

also, cyanogen mod is open source...couldn't they just grab those changes for AOSP? isn't that the whole point?

I dunno, the guy seems pretty skilled, seems like Google is missing the boat by not offering him a shitload of $.

I'd like for them to hire the guys that did Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher. So much smoother than stock, especially the 3D Launcher Pro.

Beware - 6.0.0 RC1 is finnicky when it comes to the market (lots of force closes). After several wipe-reflash retries, I found the "g1friendly" GAPPS zip file, that seems to have done the trick for me.

Overall working very smooth & bug free on my old G1....but man, the ADW launcher is SLOW to load. When its loaded & I'm using it, it works well, but after you've been in another app and come back to the home screen, there's major lag.

Wow, this shit is way faster than 5.0.8 was. Here I was ready to have to reinstall all my apps only to find out it sync'd them all right from my account. I thought that was a 2.2 only feature (backing them up to google).

I've been running this since sometime late last night and it's been pretty solid. I've noticed some slow down in the app drawer from 5.0.8 but that might be due to a lower overclock on my droid. I have had 0 issues or FC with any app (including market) since I flashed to this rom. I'm not sure if it's new but the homescreen Touch Gestures are pretty sweet.

IIRC the reason Cyanogen doesn't go to work for google is that he likes his current job and enjoy's doing Android as a hobby.

Also, its a whole team that does this. While Cyanogen is the central figure, there are a bunch of guys doing massive amounts of work.

Please swing into the XDA thread and throw them some props. Way too many people only post their problems. Hardly anyone posts in there to say good job.

The CM team has some 20 dedicated developers including maintainers for several different models. CM is coming for the Evo, CDMA Hero, MT3G Slide, etc. They do a fantastic job.

Loaded RC1 myself last night, very nice, smooth as butter. Ran into some minor issues with some apps, but nothing I couldn't resolve. There is some weirdness with the volume controls though, however, I think its more due to the massive amount of sound/notification customizations that were added in CM6, which means I need to do some tweaking to get things the way I want. :)

[Moto Droid user]

The JRummy Remix of 5.0.7.1, bekit (forgot version #) 1.2ghz LV, Launcher Pro, and JuiceDefender, has been an utterly amazing combination on my phone. Battery life far better than stock, and the entire UI experience is completely fluid.
Oh, also running the DarkEdge UI mod. Which also just makes it feel so damn complete in comparison to some themes, which combined with the other modifications it is just a completely different phone experience.

I'm good with this phone until there are some good Android LTE phones.

I'm not even sure if there is a JRummy Remix for CM 5.0.8. Haven't found it, but at this point I am just waiting for CM 6.0 anyhow. And it appears the DarkEdge UI team, after getting the mod/theme compatible with 5.0.7.1 and whatnot, also declared themselves done with updates until Android 2.2, with some of the straight Froyo builds and CM 6.0 in mind. :) So right after CM6 [Stable] is released for the Droid, I'll be [im]patiently waiting for the DarkEdge update, and then probably bring everything up to date on my phone at the same time.
My phone has been super stable, so oddly enough, I just haven't been clamoring for more updates. Before, I might have an issue, and just be sitting impatient and begging for something to update on my phone, but at this point, it is quite literally a beast, runs awesomely, and I like the idea of keeping it up to date but I'd rather just keep it all beastly and stable.

I'm running it on my MyTouch 3G. ADW won't stay in memory, so it's very sluggish when it goes back to home. Other than that it's great.

Hmm...any details? Did you wipe?

You're using a G1 right? I know that phone requires a bit more tweaking than my myTouch does.

The default Home should also be in Rom Manager, if you want to try that out? You could also try Launcher Pro.

52000 downloads of CM6 in ~24 hours.

Not too shabby, saw this from Koush's tweet. Would be interesting to see the breakdown of the downloads for specific devices, also for the final CM6 revision too.

G1, yea, and I did wipe it, yes. I was able to get a little more speed out of ADW by essentially disabling everything that makes it different from the stock launcher...

I have flashed this phone so many times with so many different ROMs/recovery images, I think its just screwed up...what I really should do, is flash all the way back to stock, re-root, and start the process from scratch.
