John recently informed me of this.

Intermute has acquired CWShredder from Merijn and has integrated it into there antispyware software package (but maintain a free version, downloadable here)

[begin schadenfroh's opinion]I am treating this thing with great distrust, since i have never heard of intermute, and they are a for profit antispyware company (but Ad-Aware is also, and they are legit) but i none the less, maintain my suspecions. [/end schadenfroh's opinion]

Interface is unchaged, cept a few references to intermute and when you double click on it, it installs to a folder labled intermute in program files

Here is the press release for the transaction:

I will continue to make use of this useful tool until they fsck up somehow. Ad-aware is one of the most popular tools made by a for-profit company.

You never heard of them since users like us manage to find Cleaning stuff for free.

I see it as a mix blessing.

On one hand it might take few more releases and it could turn into a None-Free product.

On the other hand I am glad for that the original author finally would see some fruits form his hard work.

Im pretty sure whatever he got for it won't be nearly enough considering the time spent developing it.

I'm happy for the programmers if they made some money fighting spyware.

The industry should collectively try to solve this problem; I'm sure Dell and such are losing gallons of money on tech support due to spyware.
