Lot of poor people on ATOT it seems... shelling out $13 every couple of weeks isn't a lot for a decent haircut.

Yes, but $13 every 3 weeks=$220 a year.

I don't see a problem with that if you're making a decent wage.

I'd gladly pay $13 every couple of weeks. All of my Asian friends who've gone to local places have had their hair totally jacked up.

I do...i have one of those $25 wahl clipper sets from walmart. I use a #2 on the back and sides first, then the top i finish off with a 6, and do some trimming of my own with scissors around my ears. I spent a good hour trying to blend it the first time, but successive attempts have only taken about 15 minutes. If your hair is slightly damp its a lot easier to judge the length so you don't miss any spots and get everything evened out. The big trick is to have two adjustable mirrors in close proximity so you can look into one and see the back of your head. I don't think I do a bad job. The part that seems to require the most dexterity is trimming the base of your head/top of your neck behind you and making it a straight or curved line instead of jagged 🙂.

Have any of you seen the Citibank billboards on the freeway: "Cutting your own hair may seem like a good idea, but it's not."

That said, I have my old roommate cut my hair every once in a while. I like to get it cut every 2 weeks if I can, so I really don't like spending $15 for that too. I have my own clipper set from Costco and I think I'm really going to try my hand at it this summer. I've been able to do the sides but the back is really really tricky.

Buzz cutting it is the easiest way (next to shaving) of cutting your own hair. And unless your hair is really thin, a 7 (assuming 7/8") will be kinda flat. You need over an inch to really get a decent spike

I went to walmart and bought a clipper set when I found out people wanted 15-20 bucks for a haircut in toronto, went to college there. it is easy and its almost time to cut it again.

yes, i do
get a pair of clippers from wal-mart, every couple of months, you put on either the long or short guard (long for winter, short for summer) and buzz it all off

quick/clean/simple and of course, CHEAP! 🙂

Good topic.. just 4 days ago, I got a haircut.. The lady ignored everything I said and gave me what she wished.. I really really really hate the new look.. Years of growing out my bangs is gone.. anyways.. definitely good topic. I might start cutting my own hair.

:QDId you live in a cave for 10 years? Why would you ever want hair THAT short?

i just started. my best friend cut it for a while and I figure its about time i learn to do it on my own. i've messed up a few times but i don't really care, i'll eventually get better at it.

my hair is pretty short and i simply can't afford to go to the salon every 2 weeks to get it trimmed so that it keeps it's style.

I tried cutting my hair once with scissors once...bad idea for me..I have like no coordination. So I went to school with patches in my hair. lol 😱

how do you get a decent fade?
I want to go from a 1 to a 2 on the sides and back.... the side is not that hard to do, but the back is scary 😱

i have the perfect solution...marry a hair dresser. My wife is great at hair. People ask her to do the hair and weddings and all that stuff. Well, needless to say, i haven't paid for a hair cut in three years!

In three years i have saved $765 😀

The problem is that Asian hairs are alot hardy to cut then normal.
Our hair are very thick and if you don't keep it a certain length, it sticks up like crazy.
If you're not Asian, you don't know what I'm talking about.

Had my hair fvcked so many times, I'd learn to cut my own hair.
Its trail and error...took me yrs but I've gotten down perfect now.
