I beg you, use FIRE!

1. Setup Video Camera ( or Webcam )
2. Have friend/SO start recording
3. Douse Rug with various accelerants ( the more the better, more variety is even better than that )
4. Use starter of choice ( perhaps a firework, or better yet pack it with fireworks )
5. Upload for all of ATOT to see.
6. <OPTIONAL> Call EMS

Carpet will just melt. Almost (if not all) carpet and similar house furnishings are extremely flame retardant. Same for clothes.

Granted if you get it hot enough anything will burn :p

A search with my question "how to cut up large rolls of carpet" found this site. After reading this forum, I decided to join/register because I wanted to share my experience cutting large rolls of carpet WITH A CHAINSAW. I used my 16" Echo chainsaw it cut the carpet rolls in half like a hot knife through butter. It worked like a charm, and only took a few minutes. I would suggest anyone who does this should clean the chainsaw afterwards. Other than that, it was great!

True or not, the fact you searched for this, and joined to post this story you win the internet for the day.

Fools, fools, and more fools.

Solution: post on Craigslist: "Free carpeting. Pet free/smoke free house. Good condition."

I thought about it, and I'd bet that a chain saw would do just fine. It's going so fast that any snags will simply get ripped out. Or, a circular saw would work just fine: with a plywood blade. I wouldn't try a circular saw with a rip or framing blade.

I was going to suggest using one of those giant old style lumberjack saws hooked up to some kind of mechanical stroke arm to automate the process but guess the job must be done by now. :p
