Cutting (bleeding) Edge Products Your Worst Experience?

I just sent back a Toshiba e740 to Amazon after the most frustrating 5 days with a new toy I've ever experienced. I know ATOT is prob comprised of early adopters, anyone care to share their experiences with a product that didn't live up to their expectations?

I loved the idea of the e740 a whole lot more than the execution, my unit had just been recalled, but not for the problems I was having with it, particularly the action buttons failing to respond, being forced to do soft resets several times a day (sort of like working with Windows 95, 98, ME), slow Wi Fi transfer speeds, despite having a good signal, and the worst was tech support that just said "It is what it is."

Yes, I'm aware there's an rom upgrade on the horizon that'll solve all the problems that some folks are having, but I use my PDA's a lot & was incredibly frustrated with it.

No flame wars here, I really think Toshiba is on the right track and it's a seriously cool product, just not one I'm willing to work with till they iron out all the problems. I went retro & ordered a clearance Visor Edge (Epocrates & AvantGo are the most used apps that I need) that I'll use till something else come out that gets a little better reviews, the Viewsonic V35 & Dell Clementine look promising, especially if they can rock the PDA world with their prices...

What's your worst experience with cutting edge products?

After reading a good review from what I now assume to be a beta tester. I ordered a Creative Labs Videoblaster Digital VCR card. My previous card was a 3dfx one that wouldn't capture audio in other programs and 3DFx went down about 4 weeks after I bought it. So no help there. I sent it to my cousin. This CL card could do hardware MPEG2 compression so I could capture straight with that and not drop frames. Sounded great in theory. But in the 10 months that it was installed I didn't get a single capture that I was happy with. The worst part was that it only took me 1 day to find a major issue, and it took CL 5 months to fix. The MPEG2 it could capture couldn't be edited because very few video editing programs knew what to do with it and the ones that did had audiosync issues. And you had to use CL's bloated a$$, broken program becuase nothing else worked.

...so I get a WinTV model 401 card to replace it. It didn't promise much. I get a capture I'm happy with in as little as 40 minutes. Everything works as advertized, and the captures are MUCH clearer. And the files are playable! I got my first file successfully converted to divx in more than a year of trying.

For sale: Creative Labs Videoblaster Digital VCR. Never been urinated/deficated on (yet). Make an offer. 😀

Matrox G200 which I bought when it first came out based on news that eventually their drivers would make it a really sweet card. CHrist I loathed that f**king piece of sh!t garbage crap piece of junk card GARBAGE, and since then i've always hated matrox. God, christ it was slow and a total POS.

I haven't had luck with any of the motherboards that have been recommended in GH or Motherboards. Always end up with some stupid compatiblity problem with some part of my system.
