I have been making many modifications recently to quiet my PC. My IBM GXP hard drive seems to be noisy, as well as the exhaust fan and CPU fan.

The only audible noise comming from my case is the noise from the back, i'm sure it's a combination of my CPU fan and exhaust fan, my PSU fan is very quiet. It's sort of a whirling noise and I'm thinking about cutting out the stock grills which are just a bunch of 1/8 inch holes in a circle and replacing it with a wire grill or just leave it open.(no kids or pets).

Is that my only solution or is there something else I can do.

PS. The fan itself isn't very noise, just when it's in the case.

Couple things: Lose the grill, won't hurt a thing. A replacement PS fan is only about $5.00, so try that too. Finally, pull the box away from the wall. You might even put terry cloth, carpet or similar sound absorbing material behind it.
