I was cutting potatoes and pressing on the end (unsharp end obviously) of the knife with my finger to give more push to cut, and my finger slipped off the knife sliding against the tip, which made a rather clean and deep cut. The knife was clean. It bleed a bit but I was quick to check that it was not too serious then I put it under cold water for about a minute which slowed stopped the bleeding for me to bandage up. It hurts, but not to the point where I can't handle it. I'll just feel it sting every now and then. Was worse yesterday, today I hardly feel it.

I decided to remove the bandage today as it was dirty and noticed that the cut is still open but it's not bleeding, it's almost as if it's healing inside out. Is this good? Or should I get that checked and maybe stiched up? The cut is only about 1mm deep, so it's nothing all that bad. I applied a new bandage just to keep dirt out.

You used cold water, and that's it? You need to clean the wound better, and before it starts to heal over. Soap and hot water at a minimum. Then apply a bacitracin/bactroban to the bandage.

No doubt! I keep a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in my shower for cuts/scrapes.

It's normal for cuts to heal from the inside out. I'd be worried if it healed the other way.:hmm: Keep it clean.

Actually I wanted to post this and forgot:

I checked it again today and changed the bandage. The cut was a bit more closed but still somewhat open. Guess it should be ok hopefully.

I actually thought of using soap but was too scared to rub it too much at the time and make it worse. It just so happened that I washed my hands right before it happened so hopefully it was clean enough. The knife was fairly clean, at least the end of it as it did not even touch the potato or anything else. The dirt you see on my finger is actually from the bandage adhesive. It actually does not hurt at all now, it just slightly itches once in a while but nothing that makes it hard to handle.

You'll be fine, man. That's definitely not stitch-worthy. It's looking clean and well-taken care of so infection doesn't seem to be much of a risk. Just wait it out and sharpen your knives :)
