Customizing the Forums: Help Please

For some odd reason, big posts load really slowly here at work when I have the avatars enabled in "customize." They load at a good speed when they're turned off. This is really odd since we have a T-3 and downloads are super fast!

At home though, I have a 768/768 DSL line. There, big posts load just fine with avatars showing.

Anybody know what's up with it? Is the customize feature a local cookie based option, or a server based one? Will I need to customize every time I get home and at the begining of each day at work?
 
customize is server based.. whereever you go, when you log it, you keep your settings. may wanna take this up in the forum issues area.
