I needed some storage boxes, that weren't sold at the B&M, so I ordered 'em online. Got free shipping, because I added some other crap, to get the price above $50.00. It came in two UPS packages, so you know that cost them at least $8.00 in shipping.

I didn't care for the way my new wonder storage boxes worked, so I decided to return them at the B&M. No go, because they weren't in the system. I figured, this sucked pretty hard, because it was only $17.00 worth of merchandise, and would probably cost close to $5.00 to ship, not to mention the hassle of packaging it, etc.

I called OM for an RMA, and gave them the order number. After a couple minutes, she said, "Since it's less than $20.00, they won't be coming to pick it up, and we will just credit your account for the $17.00." :Q

My oh my, they must not realize I'm the same guy that raped them repeatedly for 155% price matched HDDs a few years ago! 😀

But seriously, I just thought I ought to pass on this positive experience, since God knows they get enough bashing around the Web. Here's to my new favorite office supply store!

Far cry from Best Buy!

EDIT: Hey, wait, aren't they the #1 office supply chain? Doesn't that mean you're supposed to hate them? 😉

I have never had a bad experience with OM either. They are probably one of the easiest stores to deal with. They don't always have the best deals, but they have never given me a problem PMing any reasonable deal.

YMMV on CSR experience from OM. in my opinion staples>OM>CC>OD. after reading that bestbuy story, i'm scared of bestbuy a little bit.

mmm far cry

I don't know if they're number one or not, but I've had some brushes with them in the past. It wasn't always super easy to exercise those price matches back when.

When CircuitCity moved in here, about ten years ago (maybe more), they were a pain to make returns at. You had to fill out a long form in quintuplicate, and have it signed by three people. At that time, Best Buy was easy to get along with on returns. At some point, they reversed roles. Now, it's simple to return almost anything to CC, no matter its condition, but BB became a pain in the ass, but less so recently. It seems all these retailers are constantly evolving.

I'm beginning to think they're almost all moving to a strategy that Sears has had for as long as I can remember. Keep the customer happy, one way or another. "Satisfaction guaranteed, or your money back." But, I never expect to get my money back AND keep the merchandise! Although, that has happened a couple times in the past, with Microsoft's warranty on their Intellieye mouse, and a Dell keyboard.
