Using a black shirt with white lettering, so I doubt those iron on printer things will work. Had someone tell me to use some sorta paint? Anyone else know anything?

What are you trying to do? Are you trying to make a screen transfer? You can do that with some printers ans software I know of that HP makes(and others too).
Need more info.

Edit.....................I see now what it is. What kind of printer are you using to make your iron on transfer?I believe white on black could be a problem, but I am not convinced yet.

You could get oil/water-base acrylic silkscreen paint to write the text on a cotton shirt.

If you do not care too much with permancy, then get some water-base Stevenson acrylic paint at you local art store to do the job, or a good quality acrylic house paint subtitude (just thin the paint with pain thiner/water to let it soak into the fiber)

If you use a white shirt, then cotton dye or india-ink would do it too.
