HC tested the GTX 780 Ti Ghz and it just can't OC. Same happens with the EVGA SC. 2% and 4% gains respectively.
If you take in mind the OC potential of the 290X DCU the difference in performance is ~10% by HC numbers.
Bring on the 290 I want to see! 🙂
I'm aware of what you said, I said TPU got 10% with their SC, 11% with their Jet Stream, 19% with their reference.
I'm talking about fps gains too, not clock gains.
Classy and the others will be limited similarly, but will benefit just like these current cards from software overvolting that ties into MSI AB.
You seem to be ignoring the fact that these cards are limited to 38mv over stock voltage, which is something that can be circumvented by using a 3rd party software tool in conjunction with MSI AB.
SKYMTL said he could take it to 1.3GHz on air at 1.3v but instead settled for 1195MHz at 1337mv? Are you sure you read that right?
I've been eyeing this thread for a while, thought you guys might appreciate a review of an ASUS R9-290X DirectCU II OC.

My are you both comparing custom 290X OC model to reference 780TI?
Last time I checked, the price premium for the superclocked 780TI was only 20$

Thats roughly 12½% more performance for 20$. No wonder you dont want to use that to compare with.
And if we look further on Newegg, the 290X reference cost 629$.

Easy to pick the 780TI SC for 90$ more.
Unless a miracle/disaster happens. That Asus card will not be 570$ anytime soon.
And if you wish to OC the card, as people like to sue as argument. The 780TI is even more value.
My are you comparing the highest price you can find to a non-inflated price, knowing full well you can get an R9 290X for much less?
You will call out other people for making what you deem to be apparently silly comparisons, but then go on to do the same thing yourself in the same thread? Double standards?
How is it a silly comparison? You can't buy the 280X, 290 and 290X at MSRP right now in the states without extreme luck. Most 290X reference cards are 630$ right now. 290? 520$. All prices are inflated well past the MSRP to the point that NV cards are the better value right now. For the most part, if you're buying hardware in the states, you're using Newegg or Amazon. B+M retailers except for 2-3 don't sell super high end GPUs. MC does. Best buy does not. Most people in the states buying hardware, will buy from an etailer and etailers all have inflated prices unless you get REALLY lucky. Therefore it's a fair comparison. The prices are wack thanks to miners.
I don't see why it bothers you so much, but that's the situation right now in the US. All thanks to miners who (mostly) aren't playing PC games, they've skewed the actual gaming market. Maybe the situation will auto correct by the time these aftermarket cards arrive in January, but that is how things are right now.
My best buy does. So does frys electronics. Saw a Titan on a shelf for 850...B+M retailers except for 2-3 don't sell super high end GPUs. MC does. Best buy does not.
Well sucks to be you guys in the states.

OCN always has the super nice first post. We should have a mod dedicated to just plainly putting links in the OPs of these threads maybe.
