Custom Portal maps?

Everyone loves Portal. When I first heard about it when it was announced, I just figured there would be an endless amount of user created maps taking advantage of the cool in-game physics. Alas, that doesn't seem to be the case. Too bad Valve didn't include some kind of level creator with the game.

Still, there's got to be some good custom maps out there people have made, no? I'm having trouble finding them. How would you even play custom Portal maps?
