Custom pci-e extension?

I have just read the review for the Alienware X51 and from what I see, they jerry rigged it to have the PCI-E slot connect to a different compartment in the case where a graphics card could be loaded parallel to the mobo.

I ask my more knowledgeable brethren here if you guys know any such slim cases that has this option? It'd be nice to do a single full size card build in a slim/mini tower without having to go to shuttle and whatnot.

thank you.

I'm gonna go look those up now. Hopefully we are thinking of the same thing.

Edit: So from what I can see in newegg, those lian li cases are small and roomy, but aren't the same graphic card trick as the alienware.

wow, been thinking (well, idly dreaming) about making a custom enclosure to do exactly that as the big case guys seem to have been ignoring the possibility.

Then in what case do you use this flex riser?

(I have not seen any non-server cases that have expansion mounting brackets parallel to the main-board.)

Silverstone made a couple IIRC.
I'm considering the use of one in my next build to save space.
