Custom IDE Cable Length?

I'm wondering, is it possible to make your own 80-pin IDE cables? I know 40-pin cables are easy to make. Also, the approximate distances between the heads in standard IDE cables are 6" and 10.5". Would it be possible to increase that distance? Say to 8" and 14"? I'm starting the design of a custom case, and the short length of the IDE cables is a constant thorn in the design. If anyone knows a place to purchase extra lengthy IDE cables, that would be great!

TIA!

I believe IDE is only rated to work up to 32" or so. You cannot have longer cables without massive data loss.

yeah I had a few 32 cable,s you can buy your own cables, etc.. dalco.com or something like that, has everything, tools, etc..

if your doing ata/66 + cables, wasn't 22 or 18" the max ? before some sort of possible signal lost..

EDIT:

35" - these guys r crazyyy

damn, dalco used to have a roll of cables.. can't find it anymore...

18" is the max for ATA/66 & above. 24" will still normally work @ ATA/66 however, and sometimes even those 32" monsters. For ATA/100 I wouldn't try anything longer than 18" though.
