Like not only to allow me to write arbitrary data anywhere on the disk on any disc but to allow me to write data at a speed higher than designed for the disc... (Write 8X instead of 4X)

That would just corrupt the disc.

Worst case scenario I could just erase the disc and try again? If you know a disc is severely scratched in one section of the disc, maybe there is a way to update the MFT equivalent for the disc so it doesn't write data to that part of the disc? (I've got some scratched up CDRWs that I wanna use up until they're DEAD! :evil: muahahahah!) :p
