I have just for the second time had an Abit mobo refuse to boot and have replaced it with an asus cusl2. I managed to get the system to restart without reformatting the hard drive but I am left with two question marks in device manager.

PCI System management bus and unknown device.

the system seems to be running ok but i am concerned about this and no matter what I try i am unable to get these devices whatever they are to work.
i suspect it is something to do with switching from Bx to 815 chipset.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the i815 INF files ? & What version is the CD ? I have 3 board from 3 different month and the newest board has a newer CD Version.. think it's 1.60 vs 1.57

Like the previous post stated, install the latest Intel INF file. It is available at the Intel web site in the support, chipset area. Also, if you'd like to do a complete reinstall of the system hardware, you can go into the registry and delete the local machine/enum key and this will remove all of the hardware data. You then have to reboot, run the hardware detect wizard and supply the system with all the new INF data it requests. Great for making a major hardware change.

Went to intel. got drivers for inf, security and ultra ata all of which seemed to install fine until some time later I noticed I had lost my cd/dvd completely (not in device manager).
The device is recognised and identified properly in the bios but seems to stop there.
In addition I am getting a message saying something about gate a20 and missing himem.sys on cold boot.
