They should overclock the same. The "-c" has no onboard sound or video, and is therefore generally cheaper.

E actually stands for ATA100, as the vanilla i815 is only equipped with ATA66, i815E is equipped with ATA100. The i815EP, is just the same as i815E without the integrated i752 graphics.

You feeling ok, LXi? I'm just worried, because I didn't see you pimp the MSI board here. ;)

if you are choosing between such similar boards you should be more specific about what you are going to use your system for.

CUSL2 (i815E)
onboard video: yes
onboard audio: you must ask for it or you probably wont get one w/ onboard sound
AGP Pro slot: yes
ata100: yes

CUSL2-C (i815EP)
onboard video: no
onboard audio: you must ask for it or you probably wont get one w/ onboard sound, but you can get it since its not part of the i752
AGP Pro slot: maybe...i heard from someone in the forums that they advertise the CUSL2-C w/ an AGP Pro slot, but when he got his mobo, it only had the standard AGP slot
ata100: maybe...this is also something that they advertise with the CUSL2-C since ata100 is part supported by the i815EP chipset, but i've heard of people who got their C's and with only ata66 support...go figure

The CUSL2-C has a standard universal AGP4X slot, not an AGP Pro slot. It should come with ATA100. It also has one less CNR slot (who uses it anyway?).

Emm thanks for the info guys ..... the cusl2 model mobo only have 2 ide connector(ata100) emm..i was wondering if i can connect my ata33 harddrive to the ata100 sharing with my ata66 harddrive? Will the ata33 slow the ata66 down? because i have a burner on the way ....and i have a cdrom...so i think i will connect the cdrom with the cd rw together..anyone have a better solution?

Im holding off until the MSI 815EP Pro-R to come out, by then Asus owners will be silenced.

If u use an ATA33 on the same channel it will slowdown the ATA66...But what is there to slow down in reality?. U could buy a promise controller and then connect each drive on its own channel :).

AngelOfDeath:

I dont think the slower device will slow down the faster if you use an 80 conductor(ATA66/100) cable.

ALstonLoong:

Better performance?? Never heard of that, all i815Es are nearly identical in performance.

well ..maybe you are right ..i read about a review at toms side....it show the mobo from asus is performe better than the others. Ofcourse if just the chip it wont have difference...but if in whole mobo...i think maybe there is a difference. well maybe i am wrong....

The -C version also doesn't support the older Celeron cpu's. The ppga ones 533mhz and below.

You got it mixed up. The original MSI 815E Pro, is the same as the Asus CUSL2(non-C), except it has one less CNR, and one more DIMM socket, everything else is virtually the same, onboard video, Intel ICH2 southbridge(ATA100)...etc, mostly minor differences.

The 815EP Pro, is the same as the CUSL2-C, as you expected, the only difference to their respective predecessors is the i815EP chipset, both equipped with Intel southbridge ATA100.

The 815EP Pro-R, is the same as 815EP Pro, but with RAID controller and Intel southbridge ATA100. Currently, Asus does not have a counterpart to MSI 815EP Pro-R.
