cursing without cursing

Since my kids were born, I use ATOT as an outlet for cursing:laugh:

I say Ugh a lot instead of more colorful words.

Just the other day, I bashed my toe against the bottom of the cupboards and kind of whelped out "UGGGGHHH". He said to me, "Mommy, I'm not Ugh"...priceless and he had me laughing out loud and smiling in no time🙂

I don't swear anymore, no need really. I feel like I have a good enough grasp on the english language to get my point across without cursing. I know many people who aren't smart enough to talk without cursing. It's like filler, can't think of a word? Substitute an f-bomb or something similar until your mind catches up with your mouth.

Yeah, I just think of a witty way around it. Personally, I feel that replacing swears with other "safe" words is barb-wire abuse of the english language, enough that the mere opening of your mouths warrants a call to INS.

I rarely swear because there is no need to do it. But when I do I often just say "Sandwhich!". "Sandwhich" wouldn't be in the middle of a sentence. Instead, it is a one word sentence, an exclamation.

I can't explain how I got into that habit. But it really does get attention far better than any swear word. People who hear it will just stop in their tracks confused about how to proceed.

"Gorram it!" hehehe.

normally I just curse..especially if i'm so angry I can't think fast enough to say a safer word. But usually if i catch myself starting to say sh!t..i just go "shhii...ooot", or "fuuuuhhh...aaaack".

So when you flatten your thumb with a hammer, you exclaim "what an enormously tactile sensation", right?

When that happens, I say "Ow" or "Ouch".

I've gotten in the habit of saying "poopy" for virtually any curse word. Not only does it satisfy my cravings to be foul-mouthed, but it usually also gets everyone around me belly-laughing.

eh, i just emit a series of high pitched, blood curdling shrieks.

...that or the old eeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! (noise increases in volume and pitch exponentially as duration of ee'ing increases)

quite effective, really.

LOL, My brain won't work that fast after smashing a digit! You'd be suprised, I used to work outside in track maintenance. Any time I ever got my thumb smashed, or a claw bar smashed my leg, or (this one really hurt) I got my hand caught between a chain that was holding up a heavy attachment on a machine, I just stayed calm. All the more satisfying because you just know they're waiting for me to release a tirade worse than John Goodman in the Big Lebowski. 😉
