Curser jumps up 1 1/2 lines when typing every 10 seconds or so????

Can't find any info on this annoying problem. Maybe there is a sp fix for Office2k? I had to finally change my Outlook to not use Word for editing, but I still have the freaking curser jumping up a line or so in the middle of a sentence totally screwing up my typing and closing/opening emails unintentionally?

Any ideas? I turned off the autosave feature, no help.

Sometimes, I really hate Windows!!!!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Actually, it's a Dell Latitude laptop C600. Not really new, but it is a Dell!!! I got it used and it's done this ever since I've had it.

Thanks for asking....

I recently purchased a new cd-rom, otherwise I would have done the updates long ago to see if that helped? I finally just completed all the Office updates so I'll see what happens. Shouldn't take long, one or two emails should let me know.

Funny, it doesn't seem to jump around while I type in forums???

Thanks for the assistance. BTW, do you know off hand if there was a known problem as I've described? I searched my &#$ off looking for anything, but no luck.

Assume you have an active touchpad. When typing on a laptop, any movement of your hands or wrist on the touchpad will cause cursor jumps and leaps. Go into BIOS and disable the touchpad and use an external mouse. The problem should go away.

I've thought of that, too. I do have a touchpad. Sometimes, it is related to the touchpad, but most of the time - it seems to be at at timed intervals which made me think of the autosave.

Thanks

No, I do not jest.

Recently had 100+ OptiPlex's, Precision Workstations, Latitude D600 & D800 mixed with
the same problem only it would do it in WordPad\NotePad also.

I don't see anything in the Event Viewer. I've downloaded all the SP's for XP and Office, reduced the graphics hardware acceleration, turned off auto save and even turned off Windows Restore Point. So far nothing has helped?

This happens in Outlook or Word. I never really mess with other programs, so I can't say for sure. It does not seem to be a problem for remote mail or in these forums?

I'm thinking it's related specifically to the Office 2K suite in some way.

If it was that it's a Dell issue - would it be Dell combined with Office or Dell with any program period? I'm just trying to eliminate the variables..

Thanks for all your input, everyone!
