Good Morning all
I have a DELL Lappy 600m

When I start the system it gives a msg. that follows.

Windows could not start because the followinf file is missing
or currupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup
using the original Setup CD-ROM
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

I can get into the repair console but don't know which commans will fix
or rather replace the problem file.

HELP !

Thanks

Try copying the "system" file from C:\WINDOWS\repair to C:\WINDOWS\system32\config

This can be done from any command line tool with ntfs write capability, including XP repair or a rescue disk.

[*]Rescue Disks
EDIT: the actual command would be
copy C:\WINDOWS\repair\system C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\
