our dorm has a student bar (gotta love england), and i'm currently manning it. its still early, nobody's here yet. i have a certain "allowance".

what should i have? i'll probably have a shot or two of absynth later on when people get here (its my speciality, with the fire and sugar and everything). but for right now i want something to just chill, not a beer. not wine. some mixed drink, and rum and coke seems to boring.

any suggestions 🙂

ok better than rum and coke, but still boring.

yep have my laptop. bar is in the building, when its quiet i can sit here and check my email and what not (wifi, obviously). plus i like having my music here, and my ipod is broken 🙁

true! but good enough 😉 its french, 70% booze, and still makes a hell of a flame before you take the shot for cool effects. oh, and 2 of those and you're done for the night!

not on uni housing, living in a privately owned "dorm" near russell square. also doing CS, turning in thesis tomorrow so basically done tomorrow (although there is a stupid oral exam the monday after).

I was going to say term time starts in about 2-3 weeks!

What was your thesis on? Got any jobs lined up? I start my new job tomorrow. The last one was really boring at times...

Funny, been on ATOT for years and didn't realise you were from the UK.

yeah we end late! 1 year course.
thesis was on building a power efficient MAC protocol for wireless sensing devices (fun.) course focused on networks/ distributed systems/ data communications, so it relates!

got a job lined up, start october 🙂 IT consulting here in central london!

i'm not really FROM the UK, moved here last year for uni and am hopign to settle here. was in undergrad in the states, lived there for a couple of years, and before that was in east africa!
 
Hey so have you got a 'work visa' or your standard you can stay in England for one year after your degree type of affair? Most companies are reluctant to employ guys that don't have a work visa from what I have read and look at for my friend.

I'm a British Citizen so it doesn't mean jack to me.

Screw the flames, there's other stuff for that. Why would you want to drink that heinus liquid without getting the benefit of thujone?
And you're a lightweight if 2 shots of 70% does you right for the night. 😉

When I travel I bring mine to the hotel bar.

If there is no one to meet/talk too you can keep yourself entertained.

plus it's fun to post about the bar-flies. I am heading out to Mesa,AZ on 9/11 🙁 for the week... I will probably end up posting from the Mesa Hilton's Zuni Bar and Grill again. 😉

I prefer to just drink my mich ultras and tequila from time to time.

I don't really like other mixes.
