yea, i actually got that job before I had certs! i know that kind of proves your point, but to compliment my argument, I got lucky and I was the only one applying at the time.
I always recommend that someone get certs. Why not? if they have the time and resources, why wouldnt someone want to do something that can help differentiate themselves from the rest?
i didnt go get certs until that job dried up and I found myself looking for something similar and other people were vying for the same job. After loosing a few potential good jobs for explicity not having any credentials other than experience, I had my nose rubbed in the shlt that was my resume. I decided the only way I could capitalize on my good experience was to get credentials that complimented things Ive done. This way, people dont think "he probably did the whole thing by the seat of his pants"
