Current Toyota Avalon A Car for Old People?

I really like the new Toyota Avalon. Big, comfortable. quality car that can eat up highway miles effortlessly...but is this really a car for old people?

I sorta like it (but hell, I'm starting to like Buicks too! :Q)...but I guess I'm old at 38!



I like the black Avalon but the rest are just OK. The biggest gripe I have with it is that it seems to have a chopped front end compared to the rest of the car.

Define old.
If you like the car buy one. They can be outfitted to suit many tastes. Give a hoot what anyone else thinks. It is your money, right.

Funny thing is the new '08 Accord is almost as big as the Avalon!

If you like the Avalon:

'08 Ford Taurus/Sable (roomier interior & trunk)
Buick Lucerne - built on the Caddy Deville platform & available V8 for torque
'08 Accord - 5 inches longer than a '07 Camry makes the Accord a huge car!
Hyundai Azera Limited - 10yr Warranty and even the car mags like the car!

Well, yeah, it's an old person's car, but it will definitely eat up highway miles in comfort and quiet. and if that's your main priority, don't let an image dissuade you for getting the right car for the job.

Yeah, it is. My 50+ year old parents have one, and they like it because it's quiet and they like the cushy ride.

Face it, man... It's the Japanese version of a Buick Park Avenue

Depends on the trim & color. The Touring trim in dark colors w/ the gunmetal wheels looks pretty sharp. I had one for a week as a rental and it's a very nice car.

The lighter colors with the less "sporty" wheels gets a little more bloated/old looking.

But my opinion is a little skewed, I'm not even 30 yet and like the Ford 500.

I bought my 1996 Avalon 7 years ago at 28 years old. Best car I've ever had. Currently driving it for $.35 per mile including $19000 purchase price.

Old? No way...

IIRC the Avalon has the lowest death rate per passenger mile of ANY model...a combination of safety features and driver demographics.

One year and four months from now it's going to be a toss up between the Avalon and the Azera for me. My son will be 18 and no more child support payments.

I currently have a '96 Avalon, 160k and no problems mechanically. I'll be hittin' 40 this month. I still have my '67 Riviera to keep me feelin' young!

I'm kinda diggin the two-tone Avalon.

Avalon always a car for old people. I always cringe when I see a young guy driving one. Some guy at work bought one straight out of college...

I had one last xmas as a rental. Had 2 miles on the clock and I liked it. Yeah, it's a boat, but it was peppy enough and the interior is nice, if a little boring.
