Current CPU performance

Just need a opinion, I recently upgraded my GPU to a GTX 970. And I love the difference in performance over my old R9 270, However My current CPU is a i5 3470, I know so far with the current games out even my old i5 750 is enough, But do you think this will last much longer? Would it be a good idea to buy a new i7 with ddr4? Or do you think it will just be a waste of money?

Depends on the particular games, but for most cases you'll see little to no difference. Do you have your i5 overclocked?

As much as I can, I got it set to 3.8ghz. It only goes to 3.8 on all cores and 4ghz on 2 cores and 3.9ghz on three. I suppose I can raise the blck, Some 3470 users have got over 4ghz. But I am too afraid to mess with the blck. I am interested in the new DDR4 i7's. You know? It's like when you go to a car lot and see that car you really want?

As of today you will not see a lot of performance gains going to a faster CPU. Just raise blck 1-2MHz and you should be fine.

That 3470 will be fine for a long time to come. Newer games will start using DirectX 12, which will improve CPU utilization.
