We just called and they honored a sales flyer they sent out to new customers for $19.99 /mo for 6 mo. We had been paying $43 for the past 8 months or so. Been customers for about two years.

I had my wife call and I prompted her thru it. I figured they might be a bit kinder to her. ;) At least we are going to save $120 for the next 6 months!

Thanks for the tip!

Where are you located? My service is 4Mbit down and 384kbit up. You can pay $10 extra per month to upgrade to 6Mbit down and 768kbit up. I don't really need the extra d/l speed, but it'd be great to have more upload, since I'm using BitTorrent constantly and it'd help maintain my share ratios.

Last month I signed up for $19.99/month at Best Buy; I took advantage of free (AR) Motorola cable modem and installation kit, and also get a $75 BB gift card, and a $20 card for some online photo printing service. BB still has similar deal (this week's ad only showed $50 BB gift card though); still comes recommended. Great speeds from Comcast so far (though again, I can always use more upload bandwidth)

You're a dirty leech and would be banned from any BT community that actually prospers.

Uploading will not affect your download speed anyway, unless you have it uplaoding at your MAX broadband speed. Just set it to 5-8KB/s under the MAX, and your d/l's should fly.

The only way up/down both at high levels would affect speeds would be if you are right at the limits of your NIC. I consistently have 1.2MB/s down and 189kB/s up on my connection...which is fairly close to my max with the overhead and clustered connections loss(10mbit down. 1mbit up) Stop being dirty leechers and share...the community will die otherwise...and you usually don't need to worry about the CcAUP... it's so non-descriptive as to what is 'abusive' that you could probably dispute any threatening letters you receive.

Thanks mytechmafia, your post saved me a bundle. I have Comcast broadband with the basic cable package: total monthly price of $53.40. I called as you suggested and with no difficulty got the promotional $19.95 for six months. It would never have occured to me that they would give the promotional rate to an existing customer. Thanks again for a true Hot Deal.

PS (added 17 Sept.)
There is apparently a price for getting the promotional $19.95 deal. The broadband upgrade to 6Mbps has come to my area, but reprogramming my modem each day had not moved me up from 4.4 Mbps. I had talked to several Comcast tech reps who said I should have it and that they did not understand why I didn't. This morning I got a rep in Canada who looked up my account and said I was capped at 4.4 Mbps until February 28, 2006 when the promotional period runs out. Doesn't matter much since I don't think I would be able to see the difference anyway -- and I sure can see the difference in the monthly bill. Has anyone else who got the promotional package also been able to move up to the new 6 Mbps?

1) If you close your Comcast HSI account (but not your cable TV), for 30 days, you can get another 6 months of $1995. Did it before, and it is still a viable and legit option.

2) Verizon is supposed to have a $14.95/month plan that is limited to 768K down. When I call Comcast to cancel, I will mention the $14.95 plan and see what they have to say. If they would retain me for $19.99 that would be great.

I called comcast and they offered me $89.99 1 year on demand digital silver package. (Hbo, high speed interent, on demand ect). That did not seem that good of a deal to me (normally $120).

Whats the best people have been able to get in the SF bay area (South bay) ? They did offer me $19.99 for 6 months on the high speed interent.

my HSI+digital cable went from the promotional rate of $65 to $120. its been like that for at least two months. Im thinking of cancelling digital cable altogether. if they give me another deal in the $80 range I dont mind keeping it.

I just tried it and the women agreed to do it in less than 30 seconds. I just told her about how my connection has been flaky for a long time, and that it was so bad that I was considering trying a new modem or going back to dsl, and she was like let me transfer you to tech support. I cut her off and asked her about the offer and she said let me see, then she placed me on hold for a minute and came back and told me the promotion would run for me until March 1st of next year. I'm on hold with tech support now, trying to see if they'll send me a new modem. I'm in Maryland, and the rep I spoke with was named Kenya or something like that.

why not? if dsl is cheaper, far cheaper 14.99 to 24.99 for 1.5mbit/384k or 3.0mbit/512k
i'm at pro 29.99 and renewing will save me 5.00.. cable are a ripoff. customer who call in to save money are most wise and should be complimented.
