Good question, I read that after 3.2ghz intel will go to a different socket, I am not sure about amd it's hard to tell they are talking about going to a 400mhz fsb but the hammer is still suppose to be @ 333mhz.

You can't go wrong with amd or intel. IMO if you want to oc go with amd and the xp2100 but if you go with intel go with the 2.53ghz chip (great bang for the buck).

The hammer DOESN'T have FSB..... ;)
LOL. I knew there was something about that statement that bothered me. So sweet is the Hammer...

Ok let me try this again how about it will use DDR (2700) memory?

The Visioneer scanner is several years old. I think it is a 5300 USB. They flat-out state on their web site that they don't support AMD chips. (At least they did when I put the system together in '00.) Either the scanner or the Paperport software won't work with AMD.

Via, yeah I can understand that. But I still find it hard to beleive that Amd doesn't support a product (I am not saying that it's not true), I would think with your scanner it would be something like it doesn't have the drivers for xp since it is a older scanner.

I have a Brother 9100 and it works fine on an AMD platform/ both with a Via chipset and An nforce2. As for Commance4, I have only tried it under 98se, and it works fine. I wouldn't blame AMD. for either of these.

At the time, I was on Win98SE. You might be right. It may have been a driver issue. They just were not going to update the driver for an older scanner to support AMD chips.

I should probably get a new scanner. What kind of software do you guys use with your scanners? Does it come bundled with the scanner? I'm still using that old scanner with an old version of Paperport.

I use the software that came with my scanner but a lot of the time photoshop and other photo programs work with my scanner it's hit or miss.

I just switched to Intel and I think the 1700+ Tbred B OCed is such a better deal for the price!
