Anyone have a BM6 with a half decent processor in it?

I currently have a 366@550 but could upgrade if it makes sense.

I've heard different things on the BM6. Officially, it only supports PPGA. I'm sure I've heard of people using FC-PGA without an adapter, but I cant be sure. Do some more poking around. I'd ask on the alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit usenet group.

It can handle the voltage fine. cB0 stepping Celeron's will work without mods. Anything else will require that you remove a pin from the chip and solder a wire between two pins on the cpu socket (not really hard at all). There's an article an Tom's Hardware about how to do all this.

I found the article @ TOMS. Bottom line from what I have seen is a BM6 can use a CB0 stepping CPU easily. CC0 or CD0 require a Powerleap NEO ($25) or that trick on Toms. I have a friend that is looking to upgrade his setup also.

Exactly! One of my systems is a BM6 - been running faithful and reliable god for 5 years now? 566/850mhz.

If I remember correctly there was some issue for a while regarding the revision # and if that particular BM6 board supported the newer steppings? I even bought one of those NEO converters and it turned out I didn't even need it after all! Thrown into the ebay bin.
