Ok, here's my Hot Deal.

My wife and I switched to MCI local telephone service about 6 months ago now. We had them out several times to fix call waiting problems, each time verifying our address and telephone. Heck, they've been to the place... here's the hitch...

We have never been billed for the service.

Ever.
Not on the checking account...
Not on the charge card....
nothing in the mail....

It's only the two of us here... so no one else could be walking off with the bill. (kids)

I'm wondering at this point if we should call them and TELL them or not?
Will they insist on backpayment the very instant they realize the error? :(
Will I go to hell if I don't call them? :( :|

someone else is prolly getting your bills -- you could be responsible for backpayment -- but only for a certain amount of time ( like if it goes on for 5 years you might have to pay for 1 year or something like taht )

My guess is that it will be you who ends up getting screwed in the end. I'm sure they put something in the fine print to take care of things like this. Hell they'll probably even make you pay interest. This is not based on any knowledge at all, just my confidence in the MCI lawyers not to allow anyone to get out of paying. So far, nothing's your fault though so as long as you can play dumb and say something like, "I thought I got billed annually" I don't see how waiting could really end up burning you.

Morally, you should probably call them. If you have the money, its probably the best thing. If you are really strapped for cash I could understand if you didn't.

I would imagine they have the upper hand here. If in fact you don't tell, it will eventually catch up to you. When you started service you must have signed some contract which most likely stated something like, "I agree to pay monthly bills." Therefore, playing stupid probably won't work.
