Hey,

I am jsut wondering, which motherboard/processor/case should I get? I am looking for an Athlon XP around 1800 to 2200+ and a motherboard for under $400 CDN.

I am buying from www.ncix.com since I have store credit there. I am mainly using the PC for gaming and would like to overclock in the futre and am hoping $400 CDN (about ...270 US or 250) would be enough to get something good for this.

Thanks.

Need brandnames / model types too please, thanks.

PS. I have a Geforce ti 4200 nd 19" monitor i will be using, everything else will be new. Also can you say if you need any special type of ram for it e.t.c.

An NForce2 mobo for sure. I use the EPoX 8RDA+. It is supposedly an EXCELLENT overclocker, though I have not done so to mine yet. I just purchased this board along with an Athlon 2100+ Tbred B from Newegg. It went together without a hitch. The EPoX has an EXCELLENT 6 channel onboard sound chip, so I dumped my SBLive 5.1. I would pick up 2x512 PC2700 or PC3200 DDR RAM from Twinmos or Crucial. But over everything else an NFORCE2 motherboard!

I agree.... currently running mine 200x12@2200mhz using 1.65volts...... Screaming! Not bad for a cpu rated at 1.47gigs.

Get an nForce2 m/b. Asus, Abit and Epox are super boards. Many others are also good.

Hi, thanks for your replies.

I've ordered an Asus a7n8x deluxe as it seems to be liked here. I also am thinking of getting this case

Sorry, trigger happy!!! Make sure the case has the front USB and Firewire bay, as many of the older 1040s you see DON'T. Bummed me out that I could've waited a month and got it. Also, if you like aluminum, Antec also has a case, I think it's called LANBOY or something like that. It's a smaller mid-tower that should be pretty good, they also have it in steel. For a great case selection, try Directron.com...they have it all. Pay attention to the shipping charges when ordering cases, though, you may be able to get the case cheaper at your local PC shop or show once shipping is included.
