Curious 360 audio problem

OK, so I have friends still playing on the 360. In fact, they are playing Black Ops 3 on it. My wireless Microsoft headset dies a year ago and I had to use the default (in the box) headset, which sucks.

To get the wife to stop hounding me over what I wanted for Xmas, I told her to get me the headset my friends all seem to be using, the Turtle Beach X12, for the 360/PC.

OK, I open the present tonight to discover there is no fucking way to connect this for the audio. Chat, yes, audio, fuck you. Its a conspiracy. LOL In order to get audio you need to use the Green 1/8" cinch plug into the included adapter that provides L/R RCA audio and use the 360's AV cable.

OK, but the 360 is connected into the Denon AVR via HDMI with no option to output over RCA. In fact, the AV cable I had still in the 360 box prohibits the use of HDMI if you plug in the AV cable for Composite (ahem, 480i) video and L/R stereo audio. There is an actual piece of plastic extending from it that covers over the HDMI port. WTF?

Turtle Beach instructions assumes you are connecting audio to you flat screen via L/R RCA and not by any other means. I must be an Elitest in their eyes. Waste of money. Spoiled Xmas. Me sad.

OK, found a 1/" to 1/8" adapter in my house. I knew I had one, but I just had to search the cobwebs of my mind where I last had it. I'll give this a try tonight and see how it goes. I'll use the the 1/4" headphone jack on the front of the Denon AVR to feed the TB headset.

I would think the 360 can do the same, but PS3 allows you to route audio over the A/V cable when using hdmi. It is a toggle in the config menu.

I do believe the audio is active on the L/R stereo via the AV port, but the included cable in my version of the 360 prohibits simultaneous use of the AV port and the HDMI port. As such, no way to physically output on AV port without buying a third party AV cable that doesn't have the deliberate blocking plastic knob. M$ is an asshole. TB is an asshole.
