The Cold War was completely un-necessay, an utter waste of resources. But that is for another thread. This one is about Curiosity and NASA's almost announcement. I'll even lay off the funding issue for the remainder of this thread.

You're confusing theory with hypothesis. Many people do. A hypothesis is throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Once something's stuck enough times, it becomes a theory.

and to quote William Blake, "what is now proved was once only imagined." As far as I'm concerned, the theory of evolution has been proven. Anyone who thinks it's bunk is in denial.

This is one of the fumiest pictures I've ever seen. This whack-job, who has probably spent too much time sniffing chemicals in the lab just cracks me up when I watch the show that "highlights" his stupidity.

It makes me wonder why NASA kept it under wraps at all..

The Americans political system is so controlled by religious zealots, I wonder if they had to consult with a higher authority.

Very nice.

Or, after enough observations have been made, and you can then make and verify predictions about how the different types will stick, then it's a theory.

It has nothing to do with religion. Any big science news should be checked by others before it's released, otherwise you end up with embarrassments like "cold fusion."
