Okay - so this is good news.

Diabetic mice became healthy virtually overnight after researchers injected a substance to counteract the effect of malfunctioning pain neurons in the pancreas.

"I couldn't believe it," said Dr. Michael Salter, a pain expert at the Hospital for Sick Children and one of the scientists. "Mice with diabetes suddenly didn't have diabetes any more."

Diabetes runs in my family, though I don't have it there is a good possibility I could develop it later in life.
I hope that this is true and has no side effects. 🙂

How is the mouse model for diabeties different than human? If theyre pretty close this is awesome!

I have no idea, but I mean, I think mice are used quite a lot for medical research.

we'll hopefully its true and all, but even if it is you can't just introduce a cure overnight or anything, it will take years before a human drug could be approved.

This would be incredible if it works with humans. I have diabetes in the family and have some mild hypoglycemia so it would be a huge comfort to know that there's hope for what is a scourge in this country. Go Canucks!

What will all those organizations for finding a cure for diabetes do if this is true?

it won't ever be acknowledged as a cure. the medical establishment profits from the sick.

We won't hear any more of this ever again, because cures are bad business.

Not really, not for something so common that occurs often enough for people to still need the cure. I'm sure it'd be high priced.

Um yeah... this isn't Johnny Mnemonic

Yeah, the cure WAS discovered by a cybernetic dolphin who is cared for by Ice T. Did I mention they all live on the Brooklyn Bridge?
