Most coffee makers are like that. They use the 5 ounce "cups" because most coffee cups are only about 5 ounces or so.

5 ounce coffee cups are for pansies though, give me a good 12+ ounce mug

I've had decent luck with Cuisinart products over the years but, anyone who redefines a "cup" as 5 ounces can forget my business.

You might want to reread what I said.

The point is, any advertizing for food related products should be held to a higher standard. If you state a capacity in cups, they had better be 8 ounces.

You're beating a dead horse. If there's a 'standard,' it comes from the restaurant industry. Something I know a little about. The 'standard' coffee cup holds 8 ounces and the cups were often used to measure cups back in the day. You may define a cup anyway you like but, I have a stricter definition. I own a 10 cup coffee maker that actually holds 10 cups.

I'm just going by observation, experience, and what the manuals say. That's all. Frankly I think those 5 oz coffee cups can go rot someplace, they aren't big enough

What coffee maker do you have? 10 real cups is pretty big.
