My company recently moved into a bigger office space and I now have a cubicle that's about 6x6 big. At the old office I didn't have a cube just a fold out table, but I had an awesome view of the lake so it wasn't that bad. I still have a window but it's behind me, so I spend most of my day staring at two gray cube walls.

Any ideas on decorating? Maybe a couple posters or something, but not really sure what to put up. Keep in mind that it's a corporate setting so it can't be anything too crazy.

I would put up a mirror with a size that is nice enough to be able to see the view out of the window behind me but not so big to devour the cubicle wall. Oh, and I hear that playmate centerfold posters go well in corporate America these days. :)

The only personal belonging on my desk/in my cuicle is a small fan. I've been here 3 years.

It was the same at my last job also. was there for 4 years.

How about making it look like the inside of a cube from the movie Cube

I am really suprised no company has come out with a line of products specifically geared for decorating
cubicles-- I think it is an untapped market. Think about it-- most cubicle dwellers spend several times
as many hours per week in their cubicle than they do in their own kitchen or living room. They think nothing
of spending hundreds or thousands of dollars decorating and personalizing the latter. Why not spend a few
dollars personalizing the space where you spend more waking hours in than anywhere?

The cubicle I have here at my current job is a decent size (10 by 10), but like most cubicle's modular furniture the
desk is against the corner so I spend 90% of my day staring at a computer screen with an ugly grey fabric wall
just two feet beyond.

I have thought if spicing things up a little bit by bringing in some extra hardwood laminate flooring and putting that down over
the dark 70's-era commercial carpeting they have. Then, get a nice (but low-profile) decorative curtain rod or two, hang them up at the top of the
two cube walls that meet in the corner where my desk is, and hang a nice, solid-colored fabric on them to form my own colored cube wall.
Then add a decorative mirror or two, and a nice desk lamp, and it's almost like home-sweet-home.

probably because no one really wants work to be merged or synonomous (sp?) with their home?

I guess the reason I don't decorate my cube is that I don't plan on being at these jobs very long, so I have less to take home with me when I quit. Unfortunately, as you saw in my previous post, I end up staying longer than anticipated. :(

actually i just remembered i had bought the 2008 discworld calendar to put up at work. i'll have to bring that in i guess.

My cube (such that it is) is wallpapered with assorted memos, schedules, org chart, Dilbert strips, calendars, etc. held up by magnets removed from destroyed hard drives. Oh - there is also the assorted freebie gadget obtained from vendos at various trade shows hoping to buy my business (worth untold $1,000s of dollars) with a trinket that cost $0.39 to mass produce.

I too have a plain empty cube. Just have some work stuff on the cube walls. It's kinda nice as it is neat and clean, but boring at times. I just can't think of anything I would be willing to leave at work to decorate with.

Pics on the off chance someone cares. Text and Text

Sorry for the quality, had to use my phone, my digi cam is at home.
