what do you leave on your screen when you leave for say a bathroom break? I don't like the screen saver because it looks like you've been gone for a significant amount of time, so I pop up an excel sheet (even though I rarely use excel).

You?

I lock the screen like every responsible employee should when they leave their desk.

no way I'm leaving my desk with it unlocked. Not that anyone would do anything malicious but there are plenty of pranksters waiting

If IT walks by your desk and see's an unlocked computer they lock it and change your password.

If they walk by your office and see a open door and unattended notebook computer, they take that computer and you give it to your supervisor.

i took a screen shot of acad with a drawing open, set it to the background and hid icons when my jr engineer left his unlocked. he came back, thought it locked up and pushed the reset button. i had a great laff on that one when it booted up to acad. he was confused for a while on that one. he locks it if im anywhere in the building now.

I just walk away. I get my job done and I know my shit so it's a non-issue for me.

some corporate screensaver pops up after a while. i lock it when i leave my desk and if i'm here, and people can see the desktop, they see a December 2009 Edmonton Oilers calendar.

Winkey+L use to be modivation to hax0rs the computer where I worked. I'd reboot the PC with my CD that'll crack an XP password in like 3 minutes. If they were gone even 7 minutes I could already have done something. Stupid office never set the BIOS to not allow booting from a CD. I only did this on co-workers I knew well as jokes. They'd be like "WTF!!! I was gone 10 minutes and somebody hacked my PC and changed my wallpaper and made my icons huge as hell.

all in fun.
